Have you heard about the Vasa? It was a Swedish warship from the 17th century, and its story is a great lesson for software developers today. King Gustavus Adolphus wanted the Vasa to be the best warship ever. Usually, ships were made to be either warships or merchant ships, not both. But the Vasa tried to do both. It had two gun decks and huge cannons, making it too heavy. Even though expert shipbuilders warned the king, he went ahead with the design. On its first trip, the Vasa tipped over and sank. So, what does this mean for software development? In software projects, it's easy to try to include every possible feature. But just like the Vasa, trying to do too much can make your project unstable and cause it to fail. Instead, focus on the most important features first. Keep your design simple and balanced. This way, your project stays strong and manageable. I learned this lesson from the book Fundamentals of Software Architecture, which I highly recommend for anyone involved in software design. What do you think about avoiding over-engineering in your projects? #SoftwareArchitecture #SoftwareDesign #TechLessons #SoftwareDevelopment #DesignPrinciples
