I've been reflecting on the term "Aging in Place" lately. While I understand the desire most people have to remain in their homes as they get older, I'm starting to question if we are perpetuating stigmas against senior living communities and the team members who work hard within them. After all, isn't any setting we grow older in being "in place"? While it's true that some older adults may prefer to stay in their homes, it may not always be the best option for their physical, emotional, and cognitive health. As language evolves, maybe it's time to rephrase this term to reflect the intention of remaining at home if care is needed, rather than implying that senior living communities or care communities are inferior options. Perhaps what we should be thinking about is to change how we provide care and community connections within senior living and ways to make care at home more accessible. What are your thoughts on this topic? Let's start a conversation about how we can better support our aging population in all stages of life! #AgingInPlace #SeniorLiving #ElderCare #CareCommunities #HomeCare #AgingPopulation
