Nearly one-third of large US companies are exploring new work schedule shifts, including four-day or four-and-a-half-day workweeks, according to a recent KPMG survey of CEOs. This comes with many employees feeling overworked and underpaid. Interestingly, early test results show that a shorter workweek can have a positive impact on both productivity and employee well-being. By offering a more flexible work schedule, companies can attract and retain top talent, while also improving the overall work experience for their employees. It's clear that the traditional 9-to-5 office workweek is no longer the only option, and it's time for companies to start exploring new ways of working.

Over in the US, some companies are considering moving to a 6-day mandatory working week. Here’s what I had to say when asked to comment: “Andy Nisevic, the director of One Degree Training & Coaching Ltd cautions employees to know that the number of company leaders actually looking to implement a six-day workweek would be very low. And for those that do, backlash is bound to occur. "It may have a short-term increase in productivity, but when balanced against staff morale, motivation, and retention it's unlikely to be sustainable," Nisevic told Newsweek. "With a higher number of businesses exploring options to offer more and more flexibility, and four-day weeks, there's a huge risk of becoming unfavorable in talent.”recruitment." It found that 90% of companies continued the four-day work week afterwards and nearly 1/5 switched permananetly. 5moI think there are definite benefits to the 4-day work week. And, like the article mentions, people are willing to work longer hours the 4 working days in order to still meet goals/metrics/etc. For companies that aren't open to the idea of a fully fledged 4-day work week, or employees who operate better with a 5-day work week, the "Soft Friday" is a great alternative. Interesting article!
