Exciting insights from the recent IIDA Orange County "Ask the Professional" event in Irvine, California, where JRM West was proud to participate! 🌟 🏢 Key Takeaways: Law firms are shifting away from open workspaces, adapting to new operational needs. Non-traditional markets, like healthcare and industrial sectors, remain strong. Financial services continue to thrive, especially in areas like Fashion Island. Leasing deals are shrinking as companies downsize, with tenants becoming more discerning and critical of their spaces. ✨ Trends to Watch: Outdoor spaces are being integrated indoors, with a focus on evolutionary designs and multifunctional areas. Amenities are now essential, with high demand for features like cafes, wellness spaces, and game rooms. Construction costs are stabilizing due to competitive pressures, but expect longer lead times on electrical installations and new refrigerant standards in 2025. 🔍 Looking Ahead: The market is rebounding, with industrial leading the charge and a resurgence in office spaces. Sustainability is crucial, as clients prioritize eco-friendly designs. Employee well-being remains a priority, emphasizing flexibility as teams return to the office. Let's continue to innovate and create spaces that reflect these dynamic changes! 🌍💼 #IIDA #JRMWest #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceTrends #Sustainability #EmployeeWellBeing #CommercialRealEstate

Decarbonising the built environment... Step 1: Understand where we are today Step 2: Set reduction targets Step 3: Action The Irish Green Building Council's 'Building a Zero Carbon Ireland' roadmap helped tick the box for Step 1 and Step 2. For Step 3, there is no silver bullet. Action is required from all stakeholders. Timber construction, low-carbon concrete, heat pumps, insulation...they all play a part. But considering about 80% of buildings which will exist in 2050 have already been built today - maximising the use of this existing stock might be one of the most impactful solution of all. In RKD we are looking at how #design can be used to extend the lives of existing buildings. Saving them from the wrecking ball. Have a read of our most recent publication from this journey where take a look at the ever-changing office building. #Maximisingbuildinguse

Check out our latest piece of #research looking at the potential for #reuse of ageing commercial #office buildings. Many older buildings are at risk of becoming vacant. We see this is a big challenge to upgrade these to meet the #netzero targets of EPBD. Where there is challenge there is an opportunity. We see that old office buildings can be reinvented to be more attractive, flexible, and collaborative places for people to work. RKD

Discover the transformative power of Building Biology, a holistic discipline blending the art of architecture with health and sustainability science. Beyond designing residential spaces, Building Biology revolutionizes work environments, underlining the critical impact office settings have on our well-being. Building Biology emphasizes the importance of indoor air quality, electromagnetic radiation minimization, natural materials, and biophilic design in the workplace. These principles aim to create work environments that boost productivity, happiness, and harmony with nature. Prioritizing non-toxic materials and improved ventilation can significantly enhance office air quality. Reducing EMF exposure and incorporating natural light and clean water systems can invigorate employees, increasing focus and energy. Furthermore, biophilic design not only beautifies workspaces but also fosters our innate connection to nature, demonstrating how intentional design can profoundly benefit our professional and health outcomes. Extending Building Biology to workspaces addresses health concerns linked to poor indoor environments, supports sustainability through eco-friendly materials and practices, and offers financial advantages by reducing healthcare costs and enhancing employee productivity and satisfaction. Business owners and employees alike can advocate for and implement healthier building practices, fostering improvements in indoor air quality and embracing designs that connect us with the natural world. This is Impact.
Where, when and how we work has changed. We call it the #WorkNearHome era, and it's based on our belief that spending more time in our local community is key to creating happier societies, healthier high streets, and greater opportunity for all. It’s especially rewarding when we hear this reflected by our members like Damien Brown, VP Solutions Engineering at @BeyondTrust, and a member at Patch in #HighWycombe. 👇 "Patch has completely transformed the way I work. It's not just a place to get things done, but somewhere I genuinely look forward to spending my time each day. I can't recommend it highly enough! Their shared office space is nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the modern, stylish design and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The facilities are top-notch, with everything you could possibly need to be productive, from high-speed internet to well-equipped meeting rooms." #highwycombecommunity #patchtestimonials #memberfeedback

A little story about our office 💒😊, which was recently featured again: 3 years ago, during COVID (when many companies decided to scale down their #workplaces), we had a strong belief that strengthening our #officespace would be even more important in the #future. Our #vision was to build the best possible office for our #unique #team & #culture. We wanted to create a #modern space, flooded with #light, offering #views over the city and #beyond, and ready for #newwaysofworking. Most importantly, it should feel like a #home with plenty of spaces inside and outside to spend time #together. After 2 years of searching, designing, planning, and implementation – strongly supported by two of our top #smp #consultants, Dominik Bonenberger & Robin Zuern, as well as Ann-Denise Hinse & Caspar Schmitz-Morkramer from Caspar, plus Julia Drews & Sven Jonas from BNP Paribas Real Estate – we finally moved in in March 2023. We invested heavily in our new home because we truly believe that a #keysuccessfactor for remaining one of the #mostsuccessful #strategyconsulting firms in Germany is to create an #environment that makes our people feel at home (like the #family we are) and to build an #ecosystem that helps them realize their personal dreams in line with #valuecreation for our #clients. One year later, still seeing all the #happy and #proud faces of our #teams, as well as our continuously strong #doubledigitgrowth, shows that we are on the right path. Additionally, it’s wonderful to see that the great #outcome is now also featured at GROHE X (https://lnkd.in/d8y9GWe9) and in the CUBE Magazin. We will certainly strive to continue building the greatest strategy consulting boutique in Germany and beyond: SMP Strategy Consulting - Member of Eraneos Group.
