Is Johor's Bold Move: RM4,000-RM5,000 Starting Salaries—A Game Changer for Malaysia? 1. Johor's recent initiative to offer starting salaries between RM4,000 and RM5,000 for high-skilled workers positions the state as a competitive hub, especially given its proximity to Singapore. citeturn0search0 #JohorTalent #CompetitiveSalaries 2. This strategic move aims to attract and retain skilled professionals, potentially reducing the brain drain to neighboring countries and fostering local talent development. #TalentRetention #LocalDevelopment 3. However, setting such high starting salaries may present challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Johor, potentially leading to increased operational costs and wage inflation. #SMEChallenges #WageInflation 4. Other Malaysian states might feel pressured to adjust their salary structures to remain competitive, which could strain businesses unprepared for such wage hikes. #NationalImpact #EconomicBalance 5. Despite these challenges, Johor's initiative could serve as a catalyst for nationwide economic growth, encouraging other regions to enhance their compensation packages and invest in workforce development. #EconomicGrowth #WorkforceInvestment 6. While Johor's ambitious salary offerings present both opportunities and challenges, they have the potential to reshape Malaysia's economic landscape and set new standards for employee compensation. #EconomicReshaping #CompensationStandards Anwar Ibrahim | Tengku Zafrul Aziz | Rafizi Ramli | Gobind Singh Deo | Fahmi Fadzil | Anuar Fariz | Gopi Ganesalingam | Raymond Siva | Dato Idzham Mohd Hashim | Prakash Nagarajan | Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) | Iskandar Investment Berhad | Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA)

Today, let's answer our customers' questions about Indonesia: Q: What special attention should be paid to the signing of labor contracts in Indonesia? A: The fixed term contract must be signed in writing and must be in Indonesian. If the contract is bilingual, in the case of labor disputes, the judgment will be made by reference to the Indonesian version. Q: How does Indonesia stipulate probation period for employees? A: According to Article 60 of the Indonesian Labor Law, an open-ended contract may stipulate that the probationary period is not more than 3 months, while a fixed-term contract cannot include the probationary period. Q: What are the mandatory vacation allowances in Indonesia? A: If the employee has worked for one year or more, the employer is required to pay the employee a religious holiday bonus once a year according to the employee's religious beliefs (Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and Confucian). Hi there! I want to share with you about a relatively new provision issued by the Indonesian government 🇮🇩, which I believe all companies need to know, especially for employees 🧒🧑💼 . The Indonesian government has introduced a mandatory savings scheme called Tabungan Perumahan Rakyat (Tapera) 🏡 or public housing program. It is a housing finance program initiated by the government to fulfill the public's need for housing in Indonesia. Employees are required to contribute through deductions from their salaries 💸. This is outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 21 year 2024 📜, which amends Presidential Regulation No. 25 year 2020 on the Implementation of Tapera, issued on May 20, 2024. If I'm not mistaken it will fall in 2027📅. When will it take effect? According to Article 68 of Presidential Regulation No. 25 year 2020, employers need to register their employees with the Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) within 7 years from the effective date of PP No. 25 year 2020 ⏳. The contribution rate is set at 3 percent (2.5 percent covered by employees and 0.5 percent by employers) 💼, deposited to BP Tapera by the 10th of each month 📆. As you already know, there are other mandatory payroll deductions for employees that have been going on: - Income Tax Article 21 💰 - Health BPJS (Social Security Administration) 🏥 - Manpower BPJS (Social Security Administration) 🛡️ My opinion, as long as it provides significant relief for owning a house, building a house, or renovating a house, for all residences. With flexible features, such as giving an option for employees. I think this is something can be consider. Hopefully this information useful. #indonesia #governmentprovision #tapera #publichousingprogram #indonesiagovernmentupdates #businessinsight
