At the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, we and so many more industry observers know that access to testing and demonstration facilities is critical to the growth and success of early stage climatetech companies. And while we have a rich network of such facilities in our region, many entrepreneurs are unaware of those assets or struggle to gain access to them for one reason or another. That's why we're asking testing and demonstration facility operators, users, and climatetech ecosystem builders to respond to our Climatetech Test and Demonstration Site Request for Information: https://lnkd.in/eb5gZ4Va Responses gathered will help inform how we deploy resources to map and help build this critical ecosystem and facilitate connections between startups and facility operators. If you have used, or plan to use such a facility, own or operate one, or regularly connect climatetech companies to such facilities, please take a moment to complete our on-line survey! Responses are due Monday, Aug. 5th - thanks in advance for your help!

Gaussion, a UCL spinoff, has secured $12m to advance its innovative battery charging technology. The Series A funding was led by Autotech Ventures, with participation from us via the UCL Technology Fund and BGF. Charging speed remains a significant hurdle in the adoption of passenger and commercial electric vehicles (EVs). Gaussion’s novel external magnetic field solution radically enhances battery performance and extends battery life. Its technology offers a scalable solution that could impact various sectors, including transportation, energy storage, and construction. “Slow charging speed and battery degradation are currently limiting the wide-scale adoption of electric vehicles and the broader energy transition. Dr. Tom Heenan and Dr. Chun Tan, co-founders of Gaussion, have managed to solve this problem by building an innovative solution from their university labs into a scaling company. Gaussion’s commercial application taps into a huge market need and we look forward to continuing to support them on their journey.” said Dave Grimm, Partner, AlbionVC (UCL Technology Fund) Congratulations to co-founders Tom Heenan, CEO, and Dr. Chun Tan, COO, and the whole team at Gaussion! Congratulations to Molten team. Another Methane Pyrolysis startup is joining the innovation league of existing players (e.g., BASF, Hazer Group, C-Zero, Ekona, Hycamite, Aurora, Modern H2, Monolith Material, etc.). They each have different technological approaches with a) Thermal non-catalytic, b) Catalytic, or c) Plasma which leads to different product forms of 'solid carbon' in addition to H2 gas. For Molten, their Pyrolysis process focus is to produce graphite byproduct for Lithium-ion battery market. Graphite as a stable electricity conductor is used in anode side of lithium-ion batteries. Interest for methane pyrolysis is high for gas utility companies to decarbonize use of Natural Gas at the point of customer use. Best of luck to the team in setting up lab | prototyping | commercial beta trial | hiring right talent, and in your innovation journey.
Honored to announce Molten Industries’ $25M Series A led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, with new participation from Sozo Ventures, Mark Heising, and Steelhead. Additionally, a huge thank you for the continued support of our ride or dies - Union Square Ventures, Fifty Years, J4.Ventures, Moai Capital, UVC Partners, Jane Woodward, and Peter Attia - who have been with us from the beginning! Find the link to our press release in the comments. Thank you Michelle Ma and Rafaela Jinich for covering Molten’s progress in creating clean hydrogen for heavy industry and graphite for lithium-ion batteries. Read the article below. Finally, I am incredibly grateful for my co-founder, Caleb Boyd, and Molten’s Founding Team, Robert G. Wendt, Asmaa Alsubaei, Brandon Stitt, and Benjamin Rush. They inspire me every day and this dream wouldn’t be possible without them. We are growing and looking for passionate and talented people to join our team! Visit Molten Industries' LinkedIn page to apply.

🏛 "Startups need access to three critical elements: capital investment, clients, and scalability. Ecosystems play a crucial role in providing these resources." – Serge Colle, partner at EY. In a recent interview with Platform Zero during the World Energy Congress, Serge Colle underscored the importance of ecosystems in empowering startups. He highlighted that startups must have access to capital investment, clients, and scalable environments—technical and digital spaces where they can grow their businesses and find the support they need. This approach is essential to overcoming challenges and accelerating the energy transition. 🚀 Check out the video! 📺 https://lnkd.in/ecHVueip
