We did it! ❤️🥋 Holding the European mainstream and adapted kata championship at the same time without the need to additionally promote inclusion is the final step towards inclusion. When we don’t have to mention the word inclusion and we hold this kind of European Championship completely naturally, only then we have achieved enormous progress, not only in judo but in the world of sport in general. Today, the European Judo Union is an example of a wider social influence in all sports. European Judo Union 👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/dSmydxDt

JU-JI GATAME SYSTEM Turkey Grand Prix 2016 We discuss with our -18 athletes at Camberley Judo Club the importance of knowing what they are going for in groundwork before they have even hit the deck. Pick a technique; remembering in Judo we are, 90% of the time, attacking an opponent on all fours or flat on their front- choice of technique should always reflect this. Drill the life out of it, continuously attempt it in randori (sparring), begin to work out and find solutions to all methods of defence the opponent summons. Repeat the process. Here, in this clip, there is transition between: 1. Ju-ji roll with same side arm in 2. Ju-ji from guard 3. Ju-ji roll with opposite arm in 4. Ju-ji hold down 5. Ju-ji hold side belly down finish Was taught Ju-ji by Commonwealth Games Champion, Jim Warren, on first moving to Camberley to train full time. DID YOU KNOW? The objective of judo is to throw your opponent to the ground, immobilise them with a pinning hold or force them into submission with a joint lock or choke. There are two types of scores in judo: An ippon is awarded when an athlete throws his opponent to the mat on his or her back with strength, speed and control. An ippon can also be awarded through submission or by pinning an opponent to the ground for 20 seconds. If a judoka achieves ippon, they immediately win the match. A waza-ari is awarded for a throw that isn’t clear enough to be an ippon (either because it lacked speed or force, or the opponent did not land primarily on their back) or when an opponent is pinned down for less than 20 seconds (but longer than 10 seconds). Two waza‑ari in one match is the equivalent of an ippon and immediately ends the match. #BidvestsupportsteamSA #Bidvestoperationexcellence

We’re excited to highlight Para Judo today as the first matches and medal rounds unfold! We’re thrilled to showcase the dynamic action of this sport so let's a quick look at how Para Judo works: 🎯 How Para Judo Works: In Para Judo, athletes compete with the goal of throwing, pinning, or submitting their opponents. Matches take place on a mat where competitors use their senses and tactical skills to gain an advantage. Adapted for athletes with visual impairments, the sport relies on touch and auditory cues, making every move and strategy crucial. 🌍 Top Contenders: Keep an eye on exceptional performances from Japan, Brazil, and France. Japan, known as the birthplace of judo, continues to excel with a tradition of technical mastery and strategic depth. Brazil has rapidly become a powerhouse in Para Judo, with a strong emphasis on innovative techniques and intense training. France, with its robust judo program, consistently produces top-tier competitors recognized for their agility and tactical acumen. Each of these nations brings a unique strength and expertise to the mat, making them formidable contenders in this year’s tournament. Stay tuned for the thrilling bouts and celebrate the exceptional talents of these athletes as they vie for medals on the global stage. 🥋🏅 #Paralympics2024 #ParaJudo #InclusiveSports #AthleticExcellence #Judo
