Wildfires wreak havoc, destroying homes, devastating ecosystems, and leaving scars that take years to heal. At the European Fire Prevention & Rural Preservation Organization (EFPRP), our mission is critical to prevent these disasters and, when they occur, to support impacted communities in their recovery. Even small contributions can have a significant impact. Imagine if 5,000 individuals donated just €2 each – that would amount to €10,000, which could potentially plant anywhere from 5,000 - 10,000 trees depending the cost, or build 50 Emergency Shelters which can be used by 10-15 individuals, therefore, providing temporary on-site shelter for at least 500 affected individuals. Since the devastating floods on April 29th in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, four-fifths of Porto Alegre's population is without running water. With 90 people reported dead and more than 130 missing, the urgent need for clean drinking water remains critical due to severely damaged infrastructure. Waves For Water is still on the ground, deploying point-of-use filtration systems to address this crisis. So far, we've raised $14,898 of our $50,000 goal, impacting 7,449 people. What would you do for the people you love? On the 1st of January 2022 I sent my grandma (in the picture) a message: 'My biggest goal this year is to give you a hug!'. In 2021 we almost lost her and I could not bear the thought of not hugging her again. On the 7 November 2022 I surprised her. I will never forget her face. I spent 3 months in Rio Grande do Sul so I could spend as much time as possible with my family and friends after 4 years since the last time I was there for literally 2 days only. Unfortunately, everything will have changed next time I go back there. For context: the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the southern part of Brazil is facing the worst #climate catastrophe of its history. My grandma is 87 years old and has had to leave her home, where she lives for over 50 years. My sister and her mother had to leave their home. My close friends have left their homes. Thankfully they are "safe". But there are over 100,000 people literally with nowhere to go and who lost everything. Everything is missing in the state: food, water, medicine, clothes, pillows, mattresses etc. I am here humbling asking for your help again. I am trying to raise as much funds I can to support the recue efforts going on. I wish I could do more, but I physically, emotionally and financially I can't do it by myself.
