Yesterday, while speaking with our CEO Christophe about our goals for the next 5 years, as a training company, the topic of motivation came up. He said, "humans are just not motivated individuals" and I agree. Motivation for me is taking what you don't want to do and doing it anyway. Sometimes it's hard, sometimes it takes discipline, sometimes it takes courage or sometimes encouragement! When it cames to corporate training, I speak to a lot of training managers daily and a common response I get is that their employees simply don't take the training they are provided or don't use the tools they are given. I think this comes down to how much encouragement and reward they receive from the company. Obviously everyone should see training as a chance for personal improvement, but too often companies just give them the tools and don't actually follow up. Then they complain if people haven't taken the time to do it. Luckily for our clients we have an amazing team of Learning Consultans who actively follow up with your students and encourage them to participate, activate, complete and review their training goals. We do this so that you don't have to, although it would never hurt to do something twice, right?
