Achieving peak performance on our highly-tunable processors requires navigating a complex tradeoff-space of operating frequencies, for which we have developed custom optimizers. In our recent work "Optimizing quantum gates towards the scale of logical qubits", we investigate the scaling behavior of this strategy, and find the optimized performance saturates and remains relatively constant as the system size grows, indicating no fundamental impediment to operating large-scale systems with similar strategies. https://lnkd.in/gKKyWjNB

Estimating resources needed to run a quantum algorithm is a hard problem. The complexity is compounded by the variety of types of qubits that makes creating a universal tool difficult. Ever wanted to check out one of our labs? Join Jerry Chow, IBM Fellow and Director of Quantum Systems, as he walks through the IBM Quantum characterization lab, where quantum chips – like Falcon and Heron – and the systems that power them are tested before deployment. In this tour, we also visit quantum researcher Daniela Bogorin for an introduction of the ultra-cold (0.015 millikelvin) dilution refrigerator where she and her team can accurately capture quantum processor key performance indicators – like qubit frequency, qubit coherence and flux coupler tuning, among others – to determine readiness for client system deployment.

The cool thing about being called Alice & Bob is that you get to be on top of alphabetically ordered lists. I'm afraid others will understand this too and we'll get pushed to the bottom of the list, but then I guess it's still possible to rename the company Aalice & Bob and repeat as many times as needed. By the way, there's a cool new inventory of quantum processors by The Quantum Insider, check it out at https://lnkd.in/d6UZYQaw
