#Service has been a cornerstone of recovery from the very start. It may seem counter-intuitive, but extending a helping hand to others can often be more beneficial to oneself than the person receiving assistance. Finding opportunities to be of service can be challenging for those in any form of recovery. Whether it's personal limitations or difficulty in finding the right place, being valued beyond oneself is crucial for a holistic recovery. At Service in Unity, we're dedicated to meeting individuals where they are and collaborating with their limitations to help them discover a starting point for being of service to others. 🌿💙 - #ServiceInRecovery #HolisticHealing #UnityInAction #RecoveryJourney

Reuniting a family and helping a reentrant reintegrate into society can be done with a simple, communal approach: 1. Open Communication: Start by having honest, supportive conversations. Discuss expectations, challenges, and needs openly to rebuild trust and understanding. 2. Create a Supportive Environment: Offer emotional support without judgment. Reentrants often feel overwhelmed, so having a safe and welcoming space is crucial. 3. Set Small Goals: Help the reentrant set small, achievable goals like securing ID, finding housing, or applying for jobs. Celebrate each milestone together. 4. Community Involvement: Get involved in community programs that support reentry. Churches, nonprofits, or local organizations often provide mentorship, job training, and resources. 5. Access to Resources: Connect with reentry programs that offer counseling, employment help, and skill-building. Encourage participation in these networks for better opportunities. 6. Family Activities: Engage in regular family activities like shared meals or outings to strengthen bonds and create a sense of normalcy. This communal approach can ease the transition, providing the reentrant with a strong foundation for a fresh start. It's about sense of belonging after years of disconnection. How does the missing piece fit without disruption of the family flow?

Change is Possible. With the Right Support, Anything is Possible. Six years ago, I was at a very different place in my life. A high-speed chase, a hatchback packed with cocaine, and yet another trip to prison. The choices I made back then were taking me further from the life I knew deep down I wanted. Today, I stand here not as a statistic but as a recovery coach, a volunteer, and an advocate for change. I work alongside North West Stop, North West Hospice, and incredible people who are part of initiatives like the Sunrise4Stop, showing that transformation isn't just possible—it's real, and it's happening every day. This picture represents how far we can come when we don't give up, when we take steps forward despite setbacks. I know firsthand that with the right help, support, and willingness to act, change is not just a dream. It's an achievable reality. If you are struggling, remember this: You are not alone. It's never too late to turn things around, to create a life worth living, to reconnect with loved ones, and to find purpose beyond the pain. We can heal, we can thrive, and we can inspire others with our stories of growth. Let's create a life we no longer want to escape from. The journey is hard, but you are capable of it, and I'm here to walk with you. #RecoveryIsPossible #Transformation #SecondChances #EndTheStigma #RecoveryCoach #FromPrisonToPurpose #NorthWestStop #NorthWestHospice #Sunrise4Stop #CommunitySupport #HopeAfterAddiction #ChangeIsReal #SligoRecovery #YouAreNotAlone #SligoRovers #HealingTogether #AddictionRecovery #RebuildYourLife #EmpowermentThroughAction

That quote is a great reminder that what we do really matters. Even the smallest actions can have a big impact. Whether it's offering a kind word, lending a helping hand, or doing our job well, every little bit counts. In my work with Grace Transitions, LLC, and CareQuest Solutions, this idea is especially important. Helping seniors and their families during tough times is incredibly meaningful. Each time we assist someone, we're making a big difference in their lives. Our care and dedication show how much we value helping others. I plan to keep this quote in mind as I go about my day. It's a reminder that our efforts are important and appreciated. Every action we take to help others is a step toward making the world a better place. #GeorgiaDeathDoula #GraceTransitions #EndofLifeDoula #CareQuestSolutions #SeniorAdvisors

August 22, 2024 Contribution Page 244 "We recognize our spiritual growth when we are able to reach out and help others." Basic Text, p. 58 To make a difference in the world, to contribute something special, is perhaps the highest aspiration of the human heart, Each one of us, no matter what our personal makeup, has a unique quality to offer. Chances are that at some time in our recovery we met someone who reached us when no one else could. Whether it was someone who made us laugh at our first meeting, a warm and compassionate sponsor, or an understanding friend who supported us through an emotional storm, that person made all the difference in the world. All of us have had the gift of recovery shared with us by another recovering addict. For that, we are grateful. We express our gratitude by sharing freely with others what was given to us. The individual message we carry may help a newcomer only we can reach. There are many ways to serve our fellowship. Each of us will find that we do some things better than others, but all service work is equally important. If we are willing to serve, we're sure to find that particular way to contribute that's right for us. Just for Today: My contribution makes a difference. I will offer a helping hand today. Opening up about my journey has been incredibly empowering. 🙌🏻❤️ I came accross this photo on my Facebook memories today This photo captures my first official job at a charity shop in Spain, helping children in care—yet, it was only the beginning. My family's move to Spain led to another stint in care, at this age I was “Missing From Home” ALOT! A decision was made to allow me to go back to my parents but having weekly contact with a social worker. Leaving me to navigate life largely on my own from 14 with parents that had alcohol abuse and financial burdens. Facing any challenges head-on, I quickly learned that creating my own path was essential for my growth and no one was going to help me. By 14, I was already working in pubs, a tough gig that shaped my resilience. Despite the hardships, these experiences fueled my determination to rise above. At 16, I took a major step towards independence by securing my own place. It's been a journey of hitting rock bottom and then climbing my way back up, all without a safety net. At 19, thanks to an amazing opportunity I owned my first successful buisness. To anyone facing their own battles, remember: your strength and resilience are your greatest allies. Brighter days are on the horizon, and your potential is limitless. Keep pushing forward—your story is an inspiration, and the best is yet to come. #myjourney #care #carejourney #fostercare #employment #myfostercarejourney #childincare #childrenincare #residentialcare #residentialchildcare #childrensservices #careleavers #businessowner #proud #mylife #mysuccess #mystory

I have my own "hospice for ideas" - a place where all the wild ideas born in my head go to retire (and eventually die) 💀 after I realize I'm not the one to make them happen. Here're some recent "residents" of the hospice: 🪦 Cemetery App Yes, you read that right. A cemetery app 😅 It would keep all the information about people "living" there, probably their biography, contact details for relatives or caretakers, and a way to find specific graves. Plus, you could order services like cleaning, flowers, or candles - maybe even set up a subscription, and more.. 📍 Why is it in the hospice? Because at least two generations would need to change before this would take off - our grandparents aren't downloading this anytime soon. 🧩 Puzzle Education Project Platform where you finally figure out who you are and what you're meant to do. You'd input your skills, interests, etc., and voila - a personalized list of professions pops up, complete with the skills you'd need to get there, online courses, books, tools, exercises, mentors, and even HRs to prep you for interviews and polish your CV. 📍 Why did it move to the hospice? Sounds cool, but let's be real - it's more hustle than it's worth. And there are already platforms offering courses and coaching, and they're probably working on features like this anyway. 👕 SAYit! T-Shirts T-shirts that are the accessories, with embroidered slogans that speak your vibe.. • "Directed by ROBERT B. WEIDE" • "Just polchasika and domoi" 📍 Why did it end up in the hospice? Quick trend, high startup costs, and meh margins. Fun idea but probably not a lasting one.. So as you can see, my ideas' hospice is thriving while the ideas themselves.. not so much 😅 But that's okay! I like to think of this as my brain's chewing gum - fresh, fun, and great to start with.. until I realize I actually prefer mint over fruity flavors. So, feel free to borrow any of these! I'd be happy if one of my ideas found a new lease on life! 📷 Cementerio Municipal in Punta Arenas, Chile.
