💡Hurricane Helene: How You Can Help! After disasters like Hurricane Helene, many want to send water, blankets, or food. But while well-intentioned, these items often overwhelm aid organizations with the logistics of sorting, storing, and distributing. The most effective way to help right now is through monetary donations to trusted charities, ensuring resources reach the hardest-hit areas quickly. Here’s who’s making an impact: 🔴 **American Red Cross** – Providing shelter, food, and emotional support on the ground. 🌎 **World Central Kitchen** – Serving meals to victims and responders, led by Chef José Andrés. 🏠 **All Hands and Hearts** – Rebuilding homes, schools, and infrastructure. 🤝 **The Salvation Army** – Offering food, shelter, and spiritual care. 🌐 **United Way** – Supporting immediate relief and long-term recovery. Cash donations give these organizations the flexibility to buy what’s needed most and often support local economies in the process. Let’s make sure our help is truly helpful. #HurricaneRelief #HeleneRecovery #SmartSupport

As I respond to text messages checking in to see how we weathered Hurricane Helene and scroll through pictures of downed trees and flooded streets, I find myself thinking about disaster #fundraising. Over the next few weeks, millions will be donated to support those impacted by this storm. People will pull out their credit cards without even thinking. Why? Because of the urgency of the need. People who lose their homes need our help. People with nowhere to go need our help. People trying to figure out what happens next need our help. Urgency. When #donors understand the urgency of the need in front of them, they are more willing to act. The need doesn't have to be a disaster or an emergency for it to be urgent. #majorgifts #donorsnotdollars

World Vision staff is on the ground responding to Hurricane Helene. We've already shipped two truckloads of pre-positioned goods, including hygiene products, clothing, and children's toys, and are coordinating with our local partner network to reach the most vulnerable children and families in affected areas. WAYS TO HELP Companies: Request a branded fundraising page to provide a way for your employees and customers to give (and consider matching any donations that come in). Product donations may also be useful both in this initial response phase, and in future rebuilding phases of relief efforts. You can also make cash grants to support our relief work.
