What an inspiring first day at #UNGA79! It was a privilege to be part of several impactful discussions and events that are shaping Africa’s future. At the CEO Roundtable hosted by our long standing partner, the United Nations Global Compact Network Nigeria (UNGCNN) and the Milken Institute, with the theme "Galvanizing Africa to Move Forward Faster on the SDGs", I had the opportunity to speak on gender equality, which is a core thematic area for Sterling One Foundation and essential to driving sustainable development across the continent. I must commend Naomi E. Nwokolo. Esq and her team for an excellent outing. At the Foundational Learning event hosted by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and Human Capital Africa, with the theme "Focus on the Learning Crisis in Africa", I was inspired by Joyce Banda, former President of Malawi, as she spoke passionately about addressing the learning crisis. The discussions highlighted the potential for Africa to unlock $6.5 trillion in productive value through foundational learning reform. I also participated in the launch of the Afreximbank Africa Diaspora Center (AADC), a groundbreaking initiative that will help bridge the gap between Africans on the continent and the African Diaspora, serving as an institutional gateway that connects Africans and people of African descent to each other. The importance of harnessing the African diaspora’s influence and investments for Africa’s economic growth was front and center at this session given the diaspora’s role in driving partnerships and fostering innovation for Africa’s future. Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" rendered by his grand daughter, Mystic Marley, left a clear message of personal and collective action for delegates. My experience at UNGA79 has reinforced that while there is much work to do, the shared commitment of African leaders and stakeholders is undeniable. The conversations, partnerships, and actions I’ve witnessed offer real hope that Africa can make the transformative strides needed to achieve the SDGs. It is this shared sense of urgency and responsibility that gives me confidence that we can and will build a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future for the continent. #UNGA79 #SDGs #TheAfricaWeNeed #TheAfricaWeWillBuild

The Impact Behind EduAid Africa Hoodies As someone passionate about youth empowerment and community impact, I want to share a story behind the EduAid Africa hoodie that’s more than just fabric—it’s a movement. In Uganda, young athletes, especially girls, face challenges beyond what we see on the court or field. Limited access to mentorship, financial literacy, health education, and gender equality support can hold back even the most talented. Without proper guidance, these potential stars can get lost in societal pressures and the lack of resources to fully realize their dreams. EduAid Africa was founded with a mission to change this narrative. Through programs that combine sports with education and personal development, EduAid mentors young athletes, equipping them with life skills that stretch far beyond the game. Our recent Amplify Her campaign is a prime example, focusing on empowering young women through sports, financial independence, and health awareness. This isn’t just merchandise. Every hoodie sold helps fund our mentorship sessions, training camps, and community initiatives. When you wear EduAid Africa apparel, you’re part of a team committed to empowering young lives, creating a ripple effect that positively impacts families and communities. If you believe in the power of sports to transform lives, here’s your chance to make a difference. By purchasing an EduAid hoodie, you're directly supporting mentorship programs and giving a young athlete the resources they need to thrive. Alternatively, if you’re interested in partnering or collaborating with EduAid Africa, let’s connect—there’s much more we can achieve together. This is more than a hoodie. It’s a statement, a contribution, and a reminder that by supporting EduAid, you’re championing a cause that empowers the next generation to break boundaries and reach their fullest potential. Join us in this mission. Let's make change happen, one hoodie at a time.

𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗨𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗠. 𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗘: #MigrationCrisis Despite improvements in education, African youth still lack marketable skills and access to financial assets, with young women facing additional barriers due to gender inequality. The AfDB’s "Jobs for Youth in Africa Strategy" and "Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank" aim to change this. By encouraging entrepreneurship and creating jobs, we can provide the opportunities young Africans need to thrive at home. Read more: https://ow.ly/iG3h50Syx68

A pressing issue that transcends gender boundaries. The limitations we face are not exclusive to women; they affect the middle class, which is rapidly disappearing. We live in an era where a mere 1% of the global population controls over 90% of Nigeria's economy. To combat this disparity, we must prioritize inclusion. Every individual possesses unique talents and strengths. Gender inclusivity begins at home, within our families, the fundamental unit of our nation. As we strive for inclusivity, let us recognize the valuable talents surrounding us. Raising our children with equality and belief in their abilities will yield astonishing results. The gift of a child is an opportunity to transform the world. However, we must acknowledge the mindset of defeatism that discourages girls from participating in social inclusion. To overcome this, we need: 1. Generational gap understanding 2. Mainstreaming people with disabilities into our inclusion efforts As we work towards social inclusion, let us ensure we provide solutions, not create more problems. Effective leadership requires breaking barriers and understanding each other. Let us hear from the girls and women of Northeast Nigeria and let their voices guide our actions. When women and girls are left behind, the world suffers an unavoidable setback. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society.

There are several reasons why supporting Africa, particularly through organizations like Skill-upseed Africa, can be beneficial: 1.Economic Empowerment: Providing entrepreneurship skills to youth and women can lead to the creation of small businesses and startups, thereby contributing to economic growth and poverty alleviation. 2.Job Creation: By fostering entrepreneurship, more job opportunities can be generated, reducing unemployment rates, especially among youth and women who often face barriers to employment. 3.Gender Equality: Empowering women through entrepreneurship not only boosts their economic independence but also promotes gender equality by providing them with opportunities for leadership and decision-making roles.Community Development: Cluster groups can promote collaboration and support networks among entrepreneurs, leading to stronger communities and localized economic development. 4.innovation and Creativity: Encouraging entrepreneurship fosters innovation and creativity, which are essential for addressing various social, economic, and environmental challenges facing the continent. 5.sustainable Development: By equipping youth and women with entrepreneurship skills, Africa can build a more sustainable future by promoting self-reliance and reducing dependence on aid.Overall, investing in entrepreneurship skills through organizations like Skill-upseed Africa can have a transformative impact on Africa's development trajectory, fostering inclusive growth and prosperity.

𝗜𝗦 𝗢𝗕𝗨𝗗𝗨 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗔 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗦 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗡? Obudu is a town in Cross River State, Nigeria, known for its natural beauty. It includes a tourist resort and Obudu Mountain Resort. Politically, like many regions in Nigeria, it has historically been governed by men. However, with the growing push for gender equality and the increasing political inclusion of women in Nigeria, we've seen a gradual rise in women's leadership positions at national and state levels. Now, the question arises: Is Obudu ready for a young woman to lead? Martha Utsunung Agba, born in Kubbong-Bette Village in Obudu L.G.A Cross River State, is a young dynamic leader with a wealth of experience in advocacy, leadership, and Politics. She has officially declared her candidacy for the chairmanship of Obudu L.G.A with a bold agenda focusing on 8 critical areas; Transparency, Education, Healthcare, Youth & Women Empowerment, Infrastructure Development, Agriculture & Food Security, Humanitarian Services, and Peacebuilding. Nigeria has a large youth population and there’s growing pressure for young leaders to step into key political positions. But is Obudu prepared to take a chance on this young woman? We’ll soon find out when the election is conducted. Now more than ever, it’s time for young people to step into leadership roles, Yes, they may face challenges due to their age, gender, socio-cultural barriers, etc. but they bring energy, innovation, and fresh perspective – qualities Nigeria needs at this time to thrive. It's up to all of us to rally behind them, giving them the support they need to break through barriers and lead us forward. Let's embrace this new wave of leadership that includes our youth and dynamic young women. The time is now. I recently got accepted into the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) youth Nigeria program, a 3-month SDGs Advocate Programme (SDGs-AP) designed to build a community of exceptional young leaders who will champion and promote the #sdgs across the nation. In yesterday’s session, I learnt about the evolution of the SDG. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emerged from the Millennium Development Goals #mdg in 2015, providing a universal framework for tackling global challenges by 2030. They encompass goals to end poverty, hunger, promote health, education, gender equality, environmental sustainability, and inclusive societies. The SDGs guide international development efforts, requiring collaboration across governments, businesses, and civil society. Despite progress, achieving the SDGs remains a significant challenge, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic, necessitating renewed efforts and strengthened partnerships for sustainable and equitable development. I am looking forward with excitement to the coming months UN SDSN Youth - Nigeria
