DRISHTI CPS recently facilitated extensive field visits for Belgian students from Université catholique de Louvain and Indian students from Indian Institute of Technology, Indore. 🚮🌍 During these visits, students engaged with key stakeholders in the waste management ecosystem, including: Government Initiatives: They visited Ever Enviro’s BIO CNG plant, a public-private partnership with Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), which converts wet waste into CNG and compost. They also explored IMC’s Garbage Transfer Station, where wet and dry waste from door-to-door collection is segregated, compacted, and sent to facilities like EverEnviro Resource Management Private Limited and NEPRA - Let's Recycle for further processing. Private Sector: Students interacted with Swaaha Resource Management Private Limited, gaining insights into their waste collection and compaction processes. They observed how Swaaha’s operations align with IMC for efficient waste management. This hands-on experience was invaluable for the students, providing a comprehensive understanding of integrated waste management systems in Indore City, which has retained its title as the cleanest city in India consecutively for 7 years in a row. 🌞 How Solar Energy Lit Up Kamla’s World—and Changed Everything 🌟 In a quiet village tucked away in Rajasthan, Kamla Devi’s life was a daily struggle. A widowed mother of three, she faced countless challenges: long nights in darkness, limited income, and no electricity to power her dreams—or her children’s education. 💡 Kamla’s story took a dramatic turn in 2019 when a local NGO introduced solar energy to her village. For the first time, her home was illuminated with clean, sustainable power. She received a solar panel, a battery, and two LED lamps. It may sound simple, but for Kamla, it was nothing short of revolutionary. ✨ Here’s what happened next: 🌼 New Opportunities: With light after sunset, Kamla dusted off her old sewing machine and started stitching clothes at night. What began as a side hustle quickly turned into a steady source of income. 📚 Bright Futures: Her children, who had struggled to study by candlelight, now had a well-lit space for homework. Their grades improved, and so did their confidence. 💪 A Community Leader: Inspired by her newfound independence, Kamla became a solar energy advocate. She encouraged her neighbors to embrace the technology, showing them how it could change their lives too. Kamla’s journey didn’t stop there. Her story gained attention beyond the village, and she was invited to share her experience at a solar energy workshop in Jaipur. Today, Kamla runs a thriving tailoring business, all powered by the sun. ☀️ Kamla’s message is clear: Solar energy isn’t just about lights—it’s about empowerment, opportunity, and hope. Her life is proof that a small spark can ignite big changes. As we work towards a sustainable future, let’s remember the Kamlas of the world—proof that every watt of solar energy carries the potential to transform lives. 🌍 💡 What’s your story? Could solar energy change your world too? Let’s light the way together! #SolarEnergy #Empowerment #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #Inspiration

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Urbanization, as presented above, presents a critical concern in the way such cities dispose of their waste since effective waste management helps control health, the environment, and the economy of a community. A clear visible difference between a clean, sustainable community and one plagued by pollution and disease can easily be observed in the presence or absence of effective waste management. On the other side, unmanaged wastes create massive environmental and health hazards. For example, a city like Mumbai generates 7,000 plus metric tons of waste every day, a major portion of which finds its way to landfills. The consequent waste pits attract pests, contaminate ground water, and also emit greenhouse gases, hence causing climatic disorders. In addition, poorly managed streams of waste tend to choke rivers and oceans where it directly influences marine life and the entire ecosystem. Proper waste disposal cuts down pollution, encourages recycling, and contributes to a cleanliness landscape of Indian urban areas. The cities, where the ranking of the cleanest cities of India under Swachh Bharat Mission includes Indore, show the benefits of properly structured waste management. It has helped increase reuse rates, cut down open dumping and increased public health. India finds itself in a serious waste management crisis, Indian cities supposedly generate 62 million tons annually and collect only 43 million, with less than 12 million processed. The gap leaves a concrete reason for changing policies toward waste, spreading awareness, and making citizens a part of the betterment of areas. Cleaner cities toward a healthy environment. #cleancities #wastemanagement #sustainableliving #urbanhealth #indiaswachhbharat #recyclingmatters #greencities #saveourplanet #ecofriendly #reducewaste

Today, we held a pivotal departmental consultation on 'Just Transition for Sustainable Urban Habitat,' organized by the Task Force on Sustainable Just Transition, Government of Jharkhand, and CEED, in collaboration with the Urban Development & Housing Department, Jharkhand. The event was attended by senior officials from the Urban Development & Housing Department, Ranchi Municipal Corporation, Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, Finance Department, and other key agencies. Discussions revolved around the need for Sustainable Habitat and proposing sustainable solutions of how Task Force is proceeding towards extensively researching on proposed pathway to creating in-depth research associated support as: ➡️ Rapidly increasing energy demand should transition to Clean Energy, with an emphasis on solar energy demands assessment. ➡️ Growing vehicle fleet leading to higher emissions, necessitating a shift to clean transportation systems with EVs and green hydrogen technology. ➡️ Climate action plan for proposing climate-resilient infrastructure. ➡️ Sustainable disposal of various waste streams is essential. ➡️ High carbon intensity assessment in the building and construction sector so that Urban development initiatives are environmentally sensitive. ➡️ Influx of migrants leads to increased urban poverty, requiring nurturing and building of social capital for a vibrant social life. ➡️ Emphasis on local potential and resources in a self-sustained system. ➡️ Increase in the informal economy, particularly in construction and casual jobs. Green jobs need to be created to cater to urbanization needs and match the growth. ➡️ Urgent need for Urban Aquifer Management Plan. ➡️ Pilot on City and Industrial Landscape for energy transition.
