We will dedicate some time to look back on 2024 and recount and celebrate what we have done in this year. As promised, we will share the preliminary results of our JUPITA mapping project. In this, we have been identifying, mapping and connecting people, projects, initiatives, networks, organizations and institutions that are working on justice, power, transformation and/or sustainability. Our research question is: “How and to what extent is the academic community at UU analysing, critiquing and designing the (concepts and intersections) of Justice, Power, Transformation and Sustainability?” In mapping the answer, we launched a survey that yielded 97 responses and conducted 9 in-depth interviews across Utrecht University. We will also present on the Dynamic Learning Agenda: what questions emerged from our Community Day 1 session? How can we/do we want to take these forward? We will end the event by thanking you all for being involved with JUPITA with drinks & snacks and space for communing. By 17.30, we need to leave the premises. If there is interest, we are more than happy to 'take the party elsewhere' and continue our discussions and celebrations! Please feel free to forward this invitation to any colleague who you think might also be interested! Any questions and further enquiries please email Niki at jupita@uu.nl. We are looking forward to celebrating with you all! JUPITA Organizing Team (Niki Puskás, Kristina Bogner, Arianna Paterino and Flor Avelino)

A Focused Learning Environment Through workshops and breakout sessions, participants can engage in hands-on, discussions that encourage deeper exploration of ideas and solutions for club/community projects. 4. Inspiration to Reinvigorate Clubs Guest speakers will bring fresh perspectives and insights, inspiring Rotarians to drive innovation and creativity in their local clubs. 5. Five highlights from volunteering as an #EventMaker at the B Corp #LouderThanWords Festival in Oxford over the past few days... 1. Fully embracing and bringing the Good Energy to our roles as "Human Signage" with Natalie Saint (did you see us on the route from Town Hall to the New Theatre 💃 ?!) 2. Listening to Amy Clarke remind us that the system is not broken, it is working perfectly for what it was designed to do when it was created years ago. However, that design is no longer fit for purpose and we need to re-design and co-create a new system. 3. Understanding #ConsciousInclusion with Catherine Garrod and experiencing Mindful Doodling with Rebekah di Palma. Learning that to grow in empathy, I need to challenge myself to listen more to voices that are "not like me" and not just live in a self-created echo chamber. Also, that if you are not consciously including people, you are almost certainly unconsciously excluding people. 4. Learning more about RAPID Democracy with Polly Keane and Irenie Ekkeshis from the New Citizen Project and how the best decisions are the ones that involve MORE people (I will be putting the RAPID framework into practice at Hello Earth | B Corp™ Performance Marketing Agency). And last but definitely not least... 5. Meeting 50+ other incredible volunteer Event Makers, hundreds of other B Corps and the whole team at Warwick Events | Certified B Corporation who all made this inaugural fringe festival an absolutely incredible experience. Huge thank you to Hello Earth | B Corp™ Performance Marketing Agency for supporting me to get involved. Thank you everyone and ... see you next year! #BCorpFestivalUK #BCorp #BCorpFestival #MindfulDoodling #ConsciousInclusion #NewCitizenProject #RapidDemocracy #Oxford #sustainability #socialjustice #goodbusiness

🐞I’ve definitely got the TEDx bug! I’m sitting on a train this morning, with my two daughters (11&14), on our way to TEDxDonauinsel 10th anniversary event. This will be their first live experience at a TEDx event, and I wonder how they’ll find it 🤔 With a mum and dad (Bertram Knappitsch) devoting a lot of time volunteering with the TEDxKlagenfurt team, I’m hoping they’ll love it.🤞🏻 People often ask me why I get involved in something so time consuming on top of my work and family life. As well as having a very fluid view of work-life integration 🤣, here’s my big fat (but very simple) WHY... ❗️I want to hold space for other people’s ideas. It’s important.❗️ I know these ideas will make my world bigger, someone else’s world brighter or our shared worlds better. People transform the world with their ideas, but they never do it by themselves. #teamwork So, we need to take the time to create spaces for simple, complex, reimagined, and disruptive ideas. We need to encourage people to come together, to listen (maybe to something they don’t even like), to reflect and at some level to change. As TEDx organizers we can ‘hold this space’ by creating memorable and extraordinary events. Who are some of the people we’re holding space for on June 8 at TEDxKlagenfurt's Deep Shi(f)t? Will you be listening? (Ticket link 🔗 in the comments below👇) #tedxklagenfurt #ideasworthspreading #deepshift #community

This week, we were in Cardiff to build on our report with University of Warwick - Warwick Business School, Creating the Golden Thread, which sets out what a UK-wide ambition for major events could look like. We were particularly interested in where UK-wide approaches would best complement and support the Welsh Event Strategy up to 2030. 🏴 It was great to hear from Adrian Lambert at the Hay Festival about the impact of the festival on the local economy and the place itself. Event Wales told us about the strategic approach to events taken by the Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government and the connection to Wales’ wellbeing goals. We learned while things are still in recovery from the pandemic and costs of living crisis there is much coming together and collaboration happening across the sector. The Cardiff roundtable is part of a series of roundtable Spirit of 2012 and Warwick Business School are convening to discuss how Creating the Golden Thread’s recommendations could be operationalised at different levels of government for: 1⃣: Aligning and directing policymaking and investment; 2️⃣: Effective destination and event management; and 3️⃣: Capturing evaluation, evidence, and knowledge exchange for learning We’re gathering the views and insights from events ecosystem stakeholders in each home nation including government, arts & culture, sport, volunteering, tourism and funding. Herkese yetecek bir dünya mümkün mü? Calling those who are working toward co-creating a world that works for all: What can we learn from each other, do together? Many of us have broken barriers and used novel processes and technologies to connect across time and space to make a difference. What are you noticing? • What principles guide you? • What would support your work? How might we bring together what each of us has learned to amplify our usefulness on behalf of people, communities, and our shared planet? Even if you are skeptical about co-creating a world that works for all, you may find insights and partners to do what matters to you. And others may learn and grow from your perspective.

NEW BLOG POST: Exclusion and Elitism at EduEvents Based on recent events, I think it’s only right that calling out in 2024 where grassroots events are exclusive and not inclusive, lack diversity and representation. And ultimately not ethical. https://lnkd.in/eR662zbg

Navigating ambiguity? Balancing hybrid logistics? Coordinating a rebrand? These were just a few challenges Tides Center brought to us for their all-hands retreat. We turned them into opportunities to connect, inspire, and save over $92K. Learn more at the link below. #EventManagement #BrandAlignment #MissionDrivenWork
At Kennedy Events, we’re passionate about creating meaningful experiences that inspire connection and drive impact. When Tides Center approached us to plan their first in-person all-hands retreat since 2020, we knew this was an opportunity to foster collaboration and align a largely remote workforce with their mission. From designing thoughtful programming to managing logistics across five venues and seamlessly integrating virtual participation, we delivered a hybrid retreat that exceeded expectations. Highlights include assembling 2,700 hygiene kits for Glide Memorial Church and saving Tides over $92,000. Looking to elevate your next event? 𝐀𝐦 𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞? 🤔 ❓ This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a TEDx event in Valencia. The hard work of everyone involved brought excellent results, and attendees could listen to nine incredible speakers sharing their purpose, their vision, their passion and their achievements on stage. What could be more inspiring than hearing about a project offering children company when they're in the hospital; an initiative to share positive and inspiring stories worldwide; the creativity and innovation to make the most of our food scraps? 🤓 These amazing people and their wonderful drive to add to our world have left me speechless and feeling hopeful. Maybe, if there are such bright minds paired with the determination to better the lives of others among us, not all is lost. I left the event positively uplifted. Yet, on my way home that evening, I could not help but think about myself and wonder whether I'm making a difference in this world. In comparison, what am I doing with my life? How am I serving a greater purpose, or even helping others? 🙄 To be honest, I don't think I'm alone with these thoughts. I bet there's a whole lot of us who feel anything but extraordinary; who question their own importance; who struggle to believe they, in fact, are making a difference. Many modern jobs do not allow us to see the immediate or direct positive effect of our work on the world - if there is one at all. Not every one of us can work at an NGO of their choice, doing what they love and going to bed every night knowing they did something that makes that day better than the one before. 🤷♀️ So, here are a few examples why I'm not sure my actions matter: ❌ I don't currently volunteer (although I have done so in the past); ❌ I'm not working on any secret projects to save the children/forests/turtles; ❌ I am yet to make the Forbes 30 under 30 list (although it is too late for that now, I suppose); ❌ I do not have neither successful nor failed enterprises to solve a humanitarian, societal or any sort of issue. Yet, the more I think, the more I realise that, in some teeny-tiny way, I am making a difference. For instance: ✔ I'm co-organiser for a philosophical discussion group, helping people, despite their differences, come together for in-depth conversations; ✔ I donate to an animal shelter every month - even if it's little, I know it's buying kibble or paying vet bills; ✔ I make a point of telling people on the metro when their backpack is open to avoid them losing things or having them stolen; ✔ I cuddle every dog and cat in sight, if they and their owners let me. I've come to realise that while it might not be much, my actions matter. I may not be saving the world from the next pandemic or eradicating child trafficking, but, I hope, I am making the world a slightly better place. And you? How are you making a difference today? #ted #tedx #tedxvalencia #purpose #makingadifference #positiveimpact #bethechange
