Likes. Yikes!   Comments. Staged.   Result? Nothing.  Let me guess—you’re spending hours liking, commenting, and engaging. Your activity feed looks like a LinkedIn cheerleader's diary. But here’s the hard truth: 1000 random acts of engagement will not grow your business.  10 strategic DM conversations with your ideal clients (ICP) will.  Why? Because relationships are built in the inbox, not the comment section. And no, sliding into a DM doesn’t mean “Hey, let’s connect!” or “How can I help you today?” It means creating authentic, value-packed, targeted outreach that opens doors.  3 Killer Tips to Start More DM Conversations:  1. Profile = Your Invitation      If your profile doesn’t speak directly to your ICP, they won’t reply. Nail your headline, your about section, and your featured content to scream: 𝘐 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦 𝘠𝘖𝘜𝘙 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮.  2. Engagement = Foreplay      Start in their comments. Respond with insight, challenge their ideas (respectfully), or add unexpected value. Be seen before being heard.  3. Message = Intrigue, Not Sell      Your first message isn’t a pitch. It’s a hook. Acknowledge them, reference something relevant (their post, job, or company), and ask an open-ended question they can’t ignore.  Stop chasing likes. Start chasing leads. Your business deserves more than a vanity metric. PS: Do you want less or more bill board quotes?

What is written on the billboard can be understood as a beginner mistake statement: Richard van der Blom As someone with 20 years in advertising, I strongly disagree. High views or impressions are never wasted—they drive brand awareness and credibility. Just like a billboard, visibility plants seeds for future engagement and conversions. Messages are one metric, but visibility is invaluable in building trust and recognition.

Absolutely agree Richard van der Blom —it's not about chasing vanity metrics or plastering yourself like a billboard with no real substance. If your purpose and service genuinely inspire and solve problems, people will come to you. It’s not about shouting, 'Look at me!'—it’s about quietly asking, 'What value do I bring to you?' To truly stand out, we need to leave prestige at the door and focus on perspective. Are we being genuine, creating meaningful connections, and offering real insights? Or are we just adding to the noise? The key is authenticity: engaging strategically, offering value, and fostering relationships that go beyond the surface. It's not the number of comments or likes—it’s the depth of the conversations that create lasting impact.
