Menopause whispers no more; it's time we talk about it. Gone are the days when this natural phase of life was endured in silence. For far too long, countless women navigated this transition alone, guarded by a societal hush. But I am hopeful that the tide is turning. A once-taboo topic, menopause is stepping into the limelight, empowering women to share their journeys. From hot flushes to hormonal shifts, the narrative is changing. Stories brim with authenticity, shared struggles, and newfound solidarity. This shift isn't just about conversation - it's a leap towards better support and recognition, specifically in the workplace. The menopausal spectrum is vast, its impact diverse, and it seems we are now understanding that the experience is as individual as the women themselves. I have been invited to attend a seminar next week and I am going to help me learn and hopefully better support the woman in the Scantec team who are in this stage of their lives. Look out for some top tips next week for my network. #MenopauseAwareness #WomensHealth #Empowerment

Knowing your options is critical for women going through Perimenopause. There is lots of talk about HRT but there are so many myths out there women are still being left confused as to what to do. I saw a great post on Instagram today and someone commented that their GP had suggested HRT but was told to go away and do her own research and come back when she had decided what she wanted. She was so confused she had done nothing. This is not good enough. This is why I offer my 1-2-1 menopause consultations, to support women who are not getting support from their GPs. You will come away from a consultation with me, being clear on your options, whether that includes HRT or not and knowing exactly what you want to say to your GP. If you need support, visit my website and book your consultation today. --------------------------------- 𝐼 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝 𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑝𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥, 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴. 💪 𝑇𝑜 𝑏𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑎 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑟𝑦 𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑚𝑒, ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑦 𝑓𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛. Each woman's journey is unique, with hormonal and physiological changes unfolding at their own pace. It's a transformative journey for us all and one that needs to be handled with patience and self-care. You don't have to navigate it alone. Deloitte surveyed 5000 women across 10 countries for the 2024 “Women @ Work: A Global Outlook” report. 40% of women experiencing immense pain and symptoms of menopause say they just work through it! This is so, so wrong. We shouldn’t have to do this. Sadly, the percentage of women who feel supported by their companies after disclosing menopause as the reason for taking time off has gone down. From an unfortunate 30% last year to a shocking 19% in 2024. Meanwhile, the percentage of women who feel like revealing their menopause has harmed their careers has gone up from 6% to 16%. This isn’t a promo by any means but this is exactly why the work that businesses such as The Better Menopause are doing is incredibly important. Things seem to be going in the wrong direction at work for menopausal women. So we must do whatever we can to take care of ourselves.

While perimenopause, the hormonal shift leading to menopause, can begin as early as a woman's 30s, research indicates that most women, and men, are largely unaware or have limited knowledge about menopause before turning 40. Stay informed and proactive by joining MORA (www.joinmora.com), a free Slack community designed for women navigating this natural hormonal transition. And for all firms, let’s come together to break the silence and normalise menopause as the natural phase in a woman's life as it is! Menopause should not be a taboo subject, but rather an opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to supporting women at every stage of their careers. Are you ready to raise menopause awareness at your firm? Get in touch to hear how we can support. #menopause #perimenopause #menopauseawareness #joinmora

Why is the subject of menopause still shrouded in secrecy in the 21st century? In the UK alone, 13 million women are currently navigating menopause or perimenopause (NHS England). Yet, shockingly, a UCL study reveals over 90% of postmenopausal women weren't educated about it in school, leaving them unprepared. The workplace, too, often remains silent. It is estimated that one in ten women, aged between 40 and 55, working through menopause have left a job because of their symptoms and a further 13% reported that they had considered leaving. As a champion for authentic leadership, I'm troubled by the stigma surrounding menopause in the workplace. It's crucial for leaders, both male and female, to create inclusive environments that support women throughout their careers. With female family members, friends, and colleagues, I've seen firsthand the challenges women face during menopause. It's time to break the silence and create a workplace culture that values and supports women at every stage of their lives.

Today is Menopause Awareness Day, a day to break the silence and celebrate the strength of women navigating this natural transition. Whether you are experiencing menopause, perimenopause, or supporting someone who is, let’s come together to empower, educate, and uplift each other. It is time to break the stigma, share our stories, and embrace this journey with pride. Our bodies are incredible, and they deserve to be treated with love and compassion. Give yourself the space and time to re-adjust and discover the new you. You’re not alone—we’re here to listen and support you. For those who feel this does not apply to you yet—you might be surprised. You likely know someone going through these changes, even if they have not shared it. Women often mask their struggles, but it can be a lonely journey without support. Let’s be mindful, compassionate, and create a workplace where no one feels alone on this path. https://lnkd.in/emvskPd4
