With conference season in full swing, I wanted to take this opportunity to go over some ground rules on how we should treat each other. You're likely to run into adversaries (both personal and professional) at these events, so let's all try our hardest to keep things civil. This is mainly meant for folks who are newer to the conference scene, but it never hurts for seasoned conference goers to review: - Physical, in-person violence is never the answer. Fight it out on LinkedIn. - Don't go after people's personal insecurities. Yes, I've sized up from an L to an XL. I'm doing my best here. - In that same vein, yes I got these pants at Costco. They're quality pants and I'm tired of lying to myself. - Don't visit a single booth over and over and take all of their swag. People are going to notice if you scurry across the conference floor with an armful of branded water bottles. - Please don't throw sharp, hard and/or wet objects at others. We’re encouraged to pack light and probably only brought enough shirts for the day. - Everybody be excellent to everybody. With that said, let’s all have a safe and fun finish to conference season. Thoughts on conference panels: 👉 Panels are usually one of the more boring parts of a conference. 👉 The main culprits: poor questions, too many answers, and answers that are too long. 👉 Solve for poor questions by preparing key questions in advance. 👉 Limit the number of panelists who answer any given question to one. Or two. 👉 Limit responses to one minute (or less!) and use a timer to enforce. With a bell ir a tiny orchestra to signal time’s up. 👉 Add some humor! Serious panels are even more boring than regular panels. 👉Put the panelists together beforehand to plan, coordinate, and gel. The best panels have cohesive panelists. Fortunately, moderator Mark Magnacca checked almost all of these boxes (no tiny orchestra). Even though we were in the siesta zone (2:05pm), it was fairly quick and lively! Serving on a panel at the Allego Sales Success Summit was wonderful and I’d do it again. Thanks for having me!

We attended another amazing online conference with some great Family Office speakers organized by Max Pog Roman Nefedov Masha Shele and Olga Shipsha. We had a Teddy Bear 🧸 in the session and made loads of new friends. Learning from/with others is always stimulating. It keeps us aware of what happens around us and unlocks new potential for better investment decisions. It is also great to see that what we do always generates curiosity to people that meet us, adding great people to our network for future potential collaborations.
