Report: Traditional energy sources will be ‘big’ in 2025

Markets matter. For me, that's the key message from the latest report by Energy UK about the phaseout of coal in the UK. The end of coal is the result of many policy successes (and indeed failures), but the use of carbon pricing over the past two decades to firmly make electricity from coal more expensive than electricity from gas has been critical. Putting the right market signals in place for things like low-carbon generation, storage and demand flexibility is the only way we will achieve the energy transition.
