⚡️ What are Idea Sparks? They're those little nuggets of inspiration that can come from anywhere - a quote from a podcast, a line in a book, a conversation, an observation. They're the seeds from which big ideas can grow. I keep a list of these sparks, jotting down anything that stands out to me. But how can you use these Idea Sparks? They're fantastic for developing 'My Take' on a topic. For instance, I might hear an insightful discussion on a podcast that resonates with me. Or I might observe behaviour that I try to avoid. I take a those Idea Sparks, and share what it means to me. Like my post yesterday, which was sparked by a conversation on my way home from the gig. Not only was it a great way to share a snippet of my life, but it can also inspire others to think about how they can make change. Sharing things like this helps your audience connect with you. It lets them into your world, so they learn more about who you and what you stand for. Have you noticed any Idea Sparks this week? Perhaps you read a line in a book, or had a conversation that spark an idea. What opinion, perspective or lesson could you share from it in a social post? ———————————— 😍 Want more ideas and inspiration on what you can share on social media to inspire others? Want ways to help turn your idea sparks into social media posts? Get support and insights inside my mini-membership The Visibility Lab — it’s just $9 a month. Comment ‘YES’ below and I’ll share the details.

STOP giving reply guy your power. You know who I mean, dontcha my peachy chumarillo. The person lurking in the comment section just waiting to pounce with all their thoughts and feelings 👀. You haven't actually encountered them but they rage something FIERCE in your imagination. Here's something you probably don't know about me: Until last year, I was doing a very good impression of a turtle. Popping my head out and eeeek retreating again to safe invisibility. Over and over. It was EXHAUSTING and it prevented me from growing. When I made a commitment to fully show up, everything changed. Not only did I go from 1 inbound client a year (all referrals) to a steady stream of "I want to work with you" into my inbox each month... ...I suddenly found myself on some of the best business podcasts and panels in the UK (The Girls in Marketing Podcast ClimbUK The Better Business Network Standing on Giants). More visibility = more opportunities to get in front of your perfect fit clients. And I am a sassquatch with a LOT of opinions, yet have only ever been reply guyed a handful of times. The rest? It was just my sweet brain trying to keep me safe. What's holding you back from being visible? --- I work with founders like you to become visible and attract their ideal clients and opportunities. Holla holla!

Hey there… are you struggling to figure out what to say online? Do you come to me and say, “I don’t really have a story” I am calling 🐂 BS💩 on you! Your daily life is full of stories waiting to be told. Not every post has to be groundbreaking—sometimes, it’s the little moments that matter most. That quiet coffee shop brainstorming session, the aha moment from a podcast, or even a quirky client interaction. These moments are what make you unique, and when woven together, they create your signature style. Action Item: As we approach the new year, start a “Noteworthy Occurrences” journal. Every day, jot down 2-3 moments that stood out to you—big or small. These become the building blocks of your content AND make sure your social media reflects your vibe. Remember: The stories you tell are what draw your dream clients in. They’re not buying your coaching program—they’re buying you. So, start small, show up consistently, and watch the magic happen. Do you have a “noteworthy moment” from today? Drop it in the comments! ⬇️ Let’s start telling your story.

Was part of a great discussion today in The Privacy Exchange Community and thought I would share my tips-are you thinking about switching industries or want to know more about other professions? As someone who has switched industries 4 times in my career ( 😱 ) here are the tactics I use! -Check out the company or organization first-what are they talking about on their blog? Do they have a podcast or youtube channel? X account? Read up and see what the hot topics are and what other resources/companies they reference/follow/interact with! -Is there a professional organization, magazine, book, online publication or blog that deals in that industry or profession you can follow/check out? -Look up what conferences or podcasts are hot in that topic area. You'd be surprised at the wealth of knowledge exists! I've even gone into my podcast player and searched for that company name and/or business term and found hundreds of relevant episodes or guests from the industry. -Finally, now that you are learning more look at your network-who do you know or have connections with to ask a few questions to? You'd be surprised at how much great and comprehensive info you can find for free before you make the leap and join an organization or class! #careerpivots #industryresearch

He's a industrial cleaner. He has no formal marketing training. He just received five enquiries from ideal clients. This is one of our Renegades. (Our group exclusively for our book buyers). His current marketing plan comes from the stuff we talk about in the group. He cleans hard to reach exteriors. His business would be wasted on social media. He has no need to develop a following. He definitely doesn't need to worry about algorithms, whether to post photos, videos, or polls, and he definitely has more fun doing it our way. Here's what he did: He listened to our podcast (The Well-Fed Business Podcast), he selected a hundred ideal prospects, and sent them a letter. A real letter, on paper, to real people, with real businesses. Result: A repeatable system to generate new prospects without spending endless hours on social media. No business needs followers. And the only business needing social media, are the businesses selling social media. #wellfedbusiness #directmail #sales

Twisting yourself into knots over the election? Me too. Here's where I've landed and some of the perspectives that got me there. Link above under "Visit My Website" (next to my photo in this post). And for anyone who has the gall to tell me politics doesn't belong on LinkedIn because it isn't business, I'd refer them to the latest Freakonomics podcast episode on our political system -- or, more aptly, our political industrial complex (PIC). Conservatively, it's a $16 billion industry. Politics IS business. If you don't like this post, you're free to take your freedom fries and flag on a stick and SCROLL. Toodles! 🇺🇸 ✌🏼 #business #professional #professionalism #linkedin

I was talking to a friend last week who asked me how I could post, within hours, a post about how we're all doomed (the Corus cuts) and we're all saved (substack! podcasts! Patreon!). Economics in Canada aside, it's not that we have a dearth of talented programme makers and creatives —we have a system that rewards bad decisions by gatekeepers. Play it safe - you will get fired if you take a risk. Oh - and your employer is, at best, trying to outperform in a sector that is shrinking faster than a popsicle on a car roof in July. I have my own axes to grind in this country, but perhaps it is safer to talk about another country where I will make fewer enemies. "The Rest is History" is, by many accounts, the world's most popular history podcast. Public guesses about its earnings start at over $100,000 CAD a month and go well up from there. The BBC would never have commissioned them. Their account here is likely fair - not many networks will put late middle-aged white guys on their air. But, of course, it's even harder to imagine a young, marginalized or racialized person figuring out how even to pitch a show in the first place. I've sat in many meetings where incredibly talented BIPOC creators that I brought in to pitch a network who were reduced to holding their tears until they made it to the elevator on the way out of the building. And they were established creators! If you have something to say, you should put yourself out there and start thinking like a media business. No one else is coming to save us. https://lnkd.in/gE9kVyxn

There is one personality characteristic that makes me crazy as an investor. And it's a super easy trap to fall into as a founder. Here it is: Founders that are more interested in FAME than in GROWTH, PURPOSE and PROFIT. The articles, guest appearances on podcasts, awards can easily go to your head. But, as someone who has been there, they add up to nothing. Sure, if they are used to evangelize your company, do it. But, if they are meant to evangelize you, that's the trap. Your character and hard work are not measured by how many people know you but by your impact on people's lives. Success as a founder is about leaving your mark. That mark is defined by your selflessness ... and your focus. So, here's the question ... is your company about YOU or is it about your CUSTOMERS and your PURPOSE? Dare to be the founder worth knowing, not just known. ♻️ Repost this to inspire your network 👉 Join the Founder's Collective Newsletter https://bit.ly/49NZKei
