True words. Words of wisdom from Michelle Aiyegbusi. You cannot buy experience. I have being around and I have seen. I have seen parents pass down wealth to children after struggling to build businesses and invest heavily in real estates and all the inheritors do is sell off properties and businesses when they are broke and short of cash. I have always wondered what the “MISSING LINK” is; why do these things happen? Michelle has provided the answers here. There is an urgent need for entrepreneurs and business persons not just to build and harness opportunities, but also to build into these businesses, processes that builds, cultivates, sustains and engenders the growth of transgenerational wisdom, values and also more importantly a CULTURE that helps sustain these values. I recall a conversation with a South African gentleman, over two decades ago at the opening a fast food restaurant in Victoria Island Lagos. He said Nigerians create “flash in the pan” businesses. He said we do not have a business culture that helps sustain wealth transfer across generations and that most businesses in Nigeria will not survive the first generation. To some extent, true; however, many businesses now critically looking at this very important aspect of growth and development. I can name a few and particularly an organization called TENGEN (I think); also some organizations specializing in Trustee business are also investing in knowledge sharing and how to deepen values that help cultivate a culture of collaboration and value sustenance in businesses. This post so much resonates with me and my thoughts on how to navigate this labyrinth. I am on that journey and I am sure we will get it right. Thank you Michele A.. E se Ma. (Thank you Ma’am). I am slowly emerging back into the world. And want to share what I have learned on my path—and what I see we need for what is ahead. We cannot guarantee which way things will go—in fact, my guides and I call this the Tectonic Times. The times where the very ground of reality is shifting all at once. Where somethings may have changed one at a time or in sequence before, everything is disrupted and moving rapidly now. And it may only get faster. What is needed in this time is a new way to navigate and find our way forward. A new vision for us. A new vision for our lives. A new vision for us all.
