🍂 The Proper Way to Rake & Dispose of Leaves 🍂 Step 1: Tell yourself, “This year, I’m doing it right!” Channel your inner landscaper. Step 2: Head out with rake in hand, ready to dominate those leaves. Begin raking and realize…why does it feel like they multiply as you rake? 🍁 Step 3: Take a break. It’s time for a coffee, snack, or existential moment about why trees are SO extra in the fall. Step 4: Continue raking. Create a giant pile because, of course, you’ll totally bag them later. Step 5: Stare at that huge pile, feel a sense of pride, and then watch as the wind undoes all your hard work. Step 6: Accept defeat. Maybe it’s time to try the “natural mulch” method. If you've been following Harry Waters, you'll know that his daughter, Ali, is on a mission to collect 1 Million pieces of litter. You'll also know that her campaign has passed the half way point! Go Ali! Go pickers of the world! My current work and play destination brought me to an idyllic beach. Wondering what to do with myself on my work breaks, and spotting a few bits of plastic slowly disintegrating into fish and bird edible chunks, I thought it was time to give Ali a hand. Litter picking is an enjoyable brain break. It's an excuse to get up, stretch your legs and have a wander. It also makes you feel good about making the world a better place for humans and animals. I'm ashamed to say that my contribution to Ali's challenge is only this pick and another bagful back in Scotland... and a few forgotten crisp and sweetie wrappers on hikes. But it's never too late too start. And it feels great to get involved. I'm determined to do more. It's also brilliant as part of a class project.
