Love this! I believe more and more experiential thought goes into IP events, but its still shocking how little integration there is, mostly the Exhibition world (like Car Shows), Fairs (like Art Fairs) or the Event world (like sports events) still dont understand that the goal must be to build and engage a comnlmunity and that m2 sales or ticket sales will follow if its done right. A few interesting takeaways about fandom culture from Stanly 2024 Stans Report, from my pov and background in K-pop marketing & IP: ▪️ Fans see value in IP, want to consume, and will if they can afford it. This research says 62% of fans are willing to purchase merch if the price is reasonable. Emphasis on that last part of the sentence. ▪️ Fandom has longevity, many fans are in for the long run. This means potential to extend IP profitability. ▪️ "Stans are self-motivated to organize fan events, create content, translate artists' works, and make fan merchandise. Their main goal is to promote their favorite artists and share happiness with others who have similar interests." This means multiple opportunities to align best practices in the use of an artist's IP in a friendly way. Fans will use it anyway, and they do it with the best of their intentions.
