As we prepare for the big day tomorrow, a shout-out to all my fellow election judges, and a call for others to join us in future elections. Worn out by increased polarization? Working the polls can be a welcome antidote. Pull your focus in locally and get recharged by working with neighbors from across the political spectrum who are all there to ensure a safe and secure election for ALL! Want to see democracy in action? Be part of helping voters exercise this most essential right/responsibility within our self-governing society. Want to understand the safeguards and checks and balances in place to ensure the integrity of our elections? See the care given to chain-of-custody, the necessity of election judges from both parties being present at essential checkpoints, and so much more! While election judges have ONE long day (or a few, in the case of early voting), a special shout-out to all the election officials and staff who put so much care into their work throughout the year to ensure we can all plug in and make Election Day as smooth as possible. Interested in being a poll worker in a future election? 🗳 Happy Eleciton Day! While our dedicated election officials around the country continue to count every vote, we wanted to share our latest data on election trust. Not surprisingly, stark differences in trust and confidence in the 2024 election results remain across political parties. More than 9 in 10 Democrats believe they’ll be able to trust the results of this election, while only 70% of Independents and 55% of Republicans say the same. However, confidence rises considerably when voters think about elections on a local level: trust increases by 21% among Republicans and 10% among Independents. This aligns with our research which shows messaging focused on the local nature of elections can play a critical role in building voter trust. 🗳 #Elections2024 #TrustInDemocracy #VoterConfidence #DataDriven

🗳️ We are right ahead of a second-order election! What are those?, you may wonder. 🤓 Political nerd talk: ▶️ The concept of second-order elections refers to elections in which voters perceive their votes to have less impact compared to "first-order" or national elections. Examples of second-order elections include local parliament elections and the election for the European parliament. ▶️ The second-order election model, established over 40 years ago, focuses on voting behavior, which can vary significantly in different national contexts. It is argued that the model may not accurately describe election behavior as well as it did in the past, but it continues to underscore the importance of voting and treating every election with significance. ▶️These elections are considered to be less predictable than first-order elections, such as national parliament elections. Given this, there is anticipation and interest in observing the outcome of the European parliament elections. With our vote, we can change and influence the agenda of our Europe. We are blessed to be able to live in such a democracy. ✨ Let’s protect it. Let’s shape it. Let’s vote! #election #eu

2024-THE ELECTION YEAR Around the Globe this year, perhaps we are seeing more voters than ever in the general elections. At least 64 nations besides the European Union are witnessing elections. In fact, almost half the world’s population are voting nationally this year. With many countries including India having concluded the election process, all eyes now shift to the Parliamentary elections in the United Kingdom to be held on the 4th of July, which ironically is the American Independence day. The political fever is rising in the United Kingdom and it is expected to get shriller with just under four weeks which will decide who the nation’s next Prime Minister will be. It is interesting to hear these political debates and witness the election campaign. In the United Kingdom polling day is not a public holiday as polling is from 7am to 10 pm giving every voter time to vote at their convenience. Eve of the Polling day and Counting day too is not a dry day. The counting of votes starts immediately after the polls end and the 650 Members of UK Parliament will be known. On the conclusion of these elections, the world’s focus will shift to the United States of America that goes to the polls on 5th November this year to elect its next President. 2024 has been a leap year and is deciding the political future of so many countries, its leaders and its people.

(Dis)Trust in Elections: Identifying Who Distrusts the Election Process & Why - PDF: https://lnkd.in/gENbxKFA Distrust in the election process isn’t a new problem, and it will take more than a quick fix to reverse. Distrust among conservative-leaning and independent voters is highest after votes are cast (when they’re collected and counted, and when a winner is chosen). As such, efforts to rebuild voter confidence and trust should focus on informing and reassuring voters about the process after ballots are cast and the protections that are in place to preserve integrity. However, these efforts should take place in the time leading up to elections to preemptively begin building trust in the process as early as possible. Remember: Building trust with these voters will take time. Rather than a one-and-done strategy, it will be key to reach these voters with strategic messaging, delivered by sources they trust, consistently and over time. This report provides a clearer understanding of the root cause(s) of this distrust among our ideal and potentially moveable audience (conservative-leaning and independent voters). #MAGA #Democracy #backsliding #antimajoritarian #authoritarian #Trump #USPolitics #insurrection #electiondenialism #radicalright #AmericanConservatives #trumpism #collectivenarcisism #autocracy
