Gone are the days when a trip to the cinema was solely about the film on the screen. Today, cinema companies are stepping up their game, competing to provide guests with unforgettable experiences. Whether it's a journey back in time to the luxury and exclusivity offered by venues like Everyman and Picturehouse, or cutting-edge in-cinema experiences such as Cineworld's 4dx and Showcase's XPLUS screenings, the choice is abundant for moviegoers. This evolution in cinema experiences isn't just reshaping the way we watch movies; it's also transforming promotional strategies. With a diverse array of offerings, brands now have the opportunity to tailor promotional campaigns to cater to different preferences. Instead of solely focusing on ticket sales, campaigns can highlight VIP experiences, exclusive screenings, annual unlimited entry passes, gourmet food and beverage options, and much more. The result? A plethora of choices and unprecedented levels of personalisation for promotional campaigns, enriching the experience for both brands and consumers alike. Embrace the future of cinema promotions and stay tuned for even more exciting developments in the world of entertainment! #CinemaPromotions

Europe is getting creative in a effort to lure audiences back to movie theaters in a context where moviegoing is down 15-20% from pre-pandemic years. The Cineville subscription based model, first launched in Belgium and the Netherlands, is about to launch in Germany, and probably also in Sweden. It’s an interesting concept but I would say that the problem of European cinema is the lack of development and coproduction of more escapist, high-concept events and pan-european tentpole movies based on IP. This being said, it doesn’t mean all movies need to be big budget blockbusters. Blumhouse is the perfect illustration of how you can succeed if you invest in smart, distinctive cost-efficient genre film experiences. Also, there’s definitely more potential to be explored in closer partnerships between global streamers and local theatrical distributors and exhibitors. At the end of the day though, distinctiveness and entertainment value are key components. #european #cinema #highconcept #tentpole #unique #entertainment #distinctive

Things that make me laugh: "Going to the cinema still offers an unmatched immersive experience to movie lovers, which cannot be replicated at home." https://lnkd.in/dR_fC8D8 If you have ever wondered about the quality of the home cinemas that we are designing and building, I can guarantee you that they far exceed the experience of any commercial cinema in South Africa. This is before we begin to consider the comfort of being at home, your choice of movies available, snacks, drinks and generally not being distracted by other factors in the cinema. oh.. & I can guarantee you that we are designing and building far more immersive home cinemas than the commercial cinemas in South Africa.

How can movie theatres attract more viewers? #LIPostingChallenge #LinkedInNewsIndia Lights, camera, action! While box office revenues soar, movie theatres grapple with declining footfalls, as highlighted by Livemint's recent report. Despite a triumphant comeback for the Indian film industry in 2023, with 157.4 million cinema-goers flocking to theatres, there's a shadow cast over the silver screen. The numbers paint a promising picture: a 29% surge in attendance from the previous year and box office revenues exceeding ₹12,000 crore for the first time. Yet, beneath the surface lies a concerning narrative - a 20-25% dip in footfalls compared to pre-pandemic levels. This divergence raises crucial questions about the future of cinema. Are we witnessing a fundamental shift in audience behavior? How can theatres adapt to evolving viewing preferences and reclaim their position as the ultimate destination for cinematic experiences? As the industry navigates these challenges, collaboration, innovation, and community engagement emerge as potential solutions. Leveraging technology to enhance the theatre experience, curating diverse content that resonates with audiences, and fostering a sense of belonging through special events are just a few strategies worth exploring. But the conversation doesn't end here - it's just the beginning. I invite you to join the dialogue and share your thoughts. How can movie theatres attract more viewers in this evolving landscape? Let's brainstorm together and script a brighter future for the silver screen! #CinemaRevival #MovieMagic #IndustryInsights

Are cinemas still relevant in this time and age where: - Home theatres almost match cinemas in screen size (just sit closer to your 75 inch OLED TV) and surround sound - The picture quality is not really discernably sharper for most audiences - the human eye can only process that many pixels and frame rate - There is really no place like home! Why travel and spend money to do something you can almost replicate? To me, there is ONE reason that makes the cinema irreplaceable. And it is quite possibly the only reason compelling enough to keep cinemas around. It is the same reason movies are created - Escapism. You go to a cinema to maximise the escapism experience of the movie. Serious movie buffs know what I mean. You watch a movie to be entertained by going into the world the characters are in. Immerse and feel what is happening. Simply put - to not be in the life you are currently in for the next 90 mins or so. The cinema offers that! A complete "time" (everything else has to wait) and space (mind and physical) getaway. No delivery person with your latest online shopping spree knocking on your door. Or the kettle whistle going off. Or your kid coming to you with a series of questions. 100% escapism. How's that for a value proposition? Do you agree? Who guessed popcorns? #retail #cinema #movies #physicalretailisnotdead https://lnkd.in/gVtJY5dF

Cinema site sizes Part 3 (and last): So, we have looked at the world, and at regions so let's do a few countries....France leads the way for single-screens, with 49% of sites being of that type (which in turn is 15.2% of all screens in France). At the other end of the scale, only 7% of Mexican cinemas are solo screens, and 6-9 screens dominate in that country with 10-12 screens also accounting for a quarter of cinemas. In the UK, just over a quarter of sites are single-screeners and 29.5% have 2-4 screens. For Germany, over 70% of sites are 4 screens and under. In the US, 3.1% of sites are 20 screens and over. There are only 23 cinemas in the world over 25 screens, and 13 of them are in the US. However, the most frequent site size is 6-9 screens, which accounts for 21.1% of sites in the US, compared to 33.6% in Japan. For the five-screener, these are popular in Mexico (15.3% of cinemas) and less so in Japan (2.8%). Taken from my recent Cinema Landscape Tracker from #Omdia's Cinema and Movies Intelligence service.

"Cinemas remind us of what it is to be human." A fascinating report on the impact of cinema from UNIC - The International Union of Cinemas, Omdia and CICAE International Confederation of Arthouse Cinemas. Alongside our regular screenings we also run Tailored Screenings for specific specific clinical groups. They provide a unique opportunity to bring people together, with the films chosen helping to open up conversations which may otherwise have been difficult to have. We couldn't agree more with the findings of this report: "Where the cinema differs is in the story on the screen and the sharing of reactions with others. Shared experiences have positive influences on our emotional well-being and connectedness, and there are numerous pieces of research showing that sharing an experience enhances its intrinsic value." #patientexperience
