As a SHE-EO, hiring is one of my favorite and most challenging responsibilities. I saw Steven Bartlett do this and thought...man that's genius, we should do that too and here we are! I will ALWAYS have a place for someone who is talented, innovative, hardworking, and has a great attitude! If you're THAT person, YOU tell me what job you would like on my team. We have multiple vacant roles at Dear Diary and The Group Chat, a nonprofit membership-based community for Black girls and women. Like Bartlett, I am a firm believer that A-class talent, in the right environment, with the right mission, can add disproportionate value to any team! I know there are people out there that are too talented for the role they're in, they aren't being challenged in the right way and deep down, they know they're capable of doing more! I also know that I don't know everything and while I can create multiple job descriptions for roles that I THINK we need, I may be missing something! You can help me help us! ✅ What I Care About: -You're hardworking -You're a good person -You're willing to learn -You have integrity ❌ What I Do Not Care About: -University qualifications and accreditations -If you have done the role before (let's innovate together) -Age ✍ If I'm talking to you, this is what I would like you to do: 1. Send me an email at yanna@deardiaryinc.org 2. In the subject line, write the job title you would like to have. 3. In the email, tell me exactly what your dream job description would be. 4. Tell me why you're the right person for that role. 5. Please include a link to your LinkedIn profile. If you know someone that may be looking for a new job this year, please tag them or send them this post privately! We may both thank you for it later. Thank you!

BE KIND ALWAYS! If you look at my LinkedIn profile, you will think I have a perfect CV but that's just the tip the iceberg. My first job at Procter & Gamble was actually an emotional roller coaster despite having amazing managers, great colleagues and endless opportunities. You know why? It was because I was in support. I was a clueless 21 year old dealing with all the issues you can possibly deal with. Thankfully I had a great manager and team. It's often easy to say mean things to people in support, like "you only have one job" or calling people names, but what people often don't see is the humans behind it. These people have families, they are going through their own struggles and have their own emotions, but they choose to show up everyday for you. Besides... It is NOT their fault that the system was designed a certain way It's NOT their fault that you are asking a BI support staff about an office blender. It's NOT their fault that you entered an extra zero in your manual entry In fact, as I worked in different roles in the tech space, I understood that support has so much value to any company. 💡INSIGHTS: It helps you understand what the users want 🤝 RELATIONSHIP: this leaves a good or bad impression of your company 📈SCALE: when founding teams can no longer speak to all the users, support is your first line of defense I'd say support teams are unseen true heroes, and this post is an appreciation to the people who keep the lights on everywhere. My former colleagues in P&G and HP who put up with my clulessness and impatience when things don't go well Syrel-Ann Adsuara Alfred Zarraga (and everyone else I can't tag to avoid being spammy) and helped keep the reports in order so the company knows how to strategize. The various support team members in both Uber and Grab who helped me get my phone and stuff fact every time I left something among other more serious issues. And last but not the least Mary Ruth Cindy Suiza from my current team who has tirelessly upskilled herself and her team to support community businesses from all over the world and Konrad Montero Falcone who triple hats as support, engagement and success in Spanish LatAm. So, when you pick-up the phone to call about anything...your app, credit card or even your delivery, the least you can do is BE KIND! PS my current team is hiring in Latin America for community support in Spanish and Portuguese (1 person each), send me a note if you know anyone. I'll put up the JDs in my profile shortly. #SupportHeroes #BeKind #LatinAmericaJobs

Great lesson in leadership and hiring. We should all follow this example
I hired a Genz candidate with "zero experience." After 3 years, I have “fired” him (here's why) I hired Aadi on April 5th, 2021. I believed 99% of jobs could be taught. ↳ because people just need a chance. I had spent months scouting potential jr marketers. I didn't care what country they were from. I didn't care about job experience. I cared about character. You can develop skills and experience. ↳ but it's hard to develop character. Aadi turned out to be an incredible hire. In over 3+ years of work: He never missed a deadline. He got better every day. He is always smiling. Last month, I sent him a Slack message: “Aadi, it’s time” I’d trained him for 3+ years for this very DM. His final lesson: How to be your own boss. See I didn’t train Aadi to JUST work for me. I trained him to be a better me. (so it was time to build his own biz) I cut his hours. Introduced him to clients. Pushed him to upgrade his tech gear. Challenged him to sell himself. He’s responded by absolutely crushing it: He has 5 clients. He’s making more money. He’s ready to change his life forever. Go follow Wiz Jr, he’s elite, he’s funny and… He’s the best human I know. Proud of you Aadi 🤛 (now go get rich)
