I could not take internship offers from NDTV, Medanta, & the Congress Office. My last internship (DU Vice Chancellor) was for 6 months, & only after 2-3 months into the internship, I started searching for the one I could take up after the end of 6 months. Applied through LinkedIn, Internshala, Unstop and did tons of cold emails. Got potential offers from NDTV, Medanta, & Congress Office, to name a few. I could proceed with none of them. Something or another would not fit in. Some required a full-time commitment, which is not possible with full-time college, Some wanted immediate joiners & did not allow a notice period, Some were unpaid, or The dates clashed with my exams. The whole process made me realise how important pre-planning is. It takes time, effort, the frustration of being rejected, and the sadness of letting go of good offers. Plus, I ended up making (silly) mistakes while applying. I guess those are inevitable. You can overcome them if and only if you have time in hand. After about 2.5-3 months, I landed up at the role of Operations intern at Unstop . ✨ So, if you want good names on your resume and a great learning environment, YOU HAVE TO START NOW. The secret to my first internship? No CV—just a Coke and my phone. In my final year of college, while everyone else was busy updating their CVs to find internships, I had a different idea. The legendary documentary filmmaker Werner Herzog once said: “If you want to make something, make it NOW—with whatever resources and knowledge you have—and put it out into the world. Then, you’ll see the magic happen.” Instead of perfecting my CV, I decided to work on passion projects that showcased both the skills I had and the things I was learning along the way. I grabbed my Mi phone, and a Coke bottle, and set out to create a spec ad.  ➡️ Researched storyboarding techniques to plan every frame. ➡️ Analyzed global and Indian soda ads for storytelling inspiration. ➡️ Experimented with music, sound design, and visuals to craft compelling audio-visual experiences. When I finally uploaded the video, people started sharing it. The feedback was overwhelming. Then the Mi team reached out, amazed by the quality. One of them even said, “I never thought our mobile could make an ad like that.” Then, after a few interview rounds with Sandeep Sarma, I landed my first internship—without sending a single CV. It’s not what’s on paper that counts. It’s the passion projects that showcase what drives you. Let your work speak louder than your résumé. I am delighted to share that I have completed my three-month internship at RV Rising Entertainment. As my internship comes to a close, I reflect on an enriching experience that has significantly contributed to my professional and personal growth. Working as a content writing intern, my primary responsibility was to craft news articles for the organization’s website. This role has not only kept me informed about current national and international events but has also honed my ability to work within a structured routine and manage my time efficiently.   Throughout my internship, I gained valuable insights into the field of journalism and content creation. One key lesson was understanding how language and inherent biases in a piece of writing can shape a reader's perception. Secondly, I learned that relying solely on headlines for information can be misleading, as headlines are designed to be catchy and engaging but are constrained by space limitations. Crafting an effective headline is a delicate balance between attracting readers and conveying the essence of the article. Moreover, I discovered the importance of thorough research and verification. The prevalence of misinformation online has underscored the necessity of consulting reliable sources to ensure content accuracy.   Finally, my time at RV Rising Entertainment has been a significant milestone in my professional journey. As an aspiring psychologist, the professional skills I developed during this internship, including critical thinking, precise communication, and diligent research are universally valuable and will undoubtedly benefit me in any future endeavors. #internship

“Not only did we throw your application in the trash, but we also ask that you NEVER apply again” ➡️😱 ➡️😑 ➡️😭 ➡️🤣 OKAY, so… that didn’t actually ever happen, but it’s what I fear I’m gonna see every time I open my inbox. I’ve found that writing my worst case scenario responses and coming to terms with them really helps when sending out applications because 1. It gets them out of my head 2. More often then not, they’re unrealistic and therefore become just plain funny I recently applied for an internship at Warner Bros. Animation and got rejected pretty fast. I made two slideshows showcasing my work from the last two years that I honestly thought was pretty bangin’. I didn’t get in, and although they couldn’t give me personalized feedback, these are my takeaways- 📬Less is more. They did not want a big slideshow, no matter how bangin’ it was. 📬BE OLDER AND MORE EXPERIENCED!!! Ngl, sophomores ain’t always so much help (or so I’ve heard 😭) 📬Written accreditations are appreciated over images (even in an art position) So while they didn’t tell me to NEVER apply again, they did tell me to wait until the year’s end. I guess I’ll try to become older and wiser in the meantime. Thank you for reading. How Internships Can Shape Your Future. Summer 2000 I was a school dropout, unsure of my path, and uninterested in becoming a chemical engineer. Autumn 2000 I decided to explore digital video editing. A local TV station offered me a 6 months internship, and I eagerly accepted. At just 17, my future was beginning to take shape. Spring 2001 I landed my first job as a digital video editor. Documentaries, small commercials, —you name it, I worked on it. Those 3 years flew by. Summer 2004 One day, I watched a stunning commercial and thought, How did they create that? So I left everything behind. My parents weren't happy, I was! CINEFEX became my bible. devoured articles and many DVDs. That fascination led me to a new goal: breaking into the world of visual effects. I began reaching out to companies—25 in total, even those two hours away from home. A Few Months Later Only one company responded. I was nervous before the meeting but reminded myself: Stay calm, smile, and give it your best. The position is yours already, got get it! Those 4 Months That internship became the best school I could ever imagine. It taught me invaluable lessons and opened doors I never knew existed. The Takeaway Internships aren’t just about gaining experience—they can ignite your passion, shape your skills, and set you on the path to your dream career.
