We talk about responsible fish farming a lot — but what does it actually mean? 🌎 Operating without causing harm to the environment, exhausting natural resources, or exploiting local workers and communities. 🌊 Taking good care of lake water and the land surrounding fish farming sites. 🐟 Raising fish according to externally monitored stringent rules and regulations, governing both environmental impact and humane treatment of fish. Responsible fish farming has always been at the top of Regal Springs’ agenda. That means, when you buy our tilapia, you’re getting a quality product that wasn’t raised at the expense of people or the planet. #ResponsibleFishFarming #FishFarming #Tilapia

Happy Labor Day! In Maryland, we are proud of our Chesapeake Bay Blue crabs, and recently, we have been fortunate to have a bountiful harvest season, but there is another way. Crab farming, also known as crab aquaculture, is a growing industry that raises crabs in controlled environments. This practice offers a sustainable alternative to wild crab harvesting, which can sometimes deplete natural populations. Crab farmers typically cultivate species like blue or mud crabs in large tanks or ponds, providing them with suitable habitats, diets, and conditions for growth and reproduction. By carefully managing the farming process while minimizing environmental impact, producers can ensure a consistent supply of crabs. #laborday #crabs

Interesting article here Simon Wallwork
Today we unveiled ‘Farming for Nature’ - working with our British farmers to move to nature-friendly farming 🌾 Speaking at our farmers conference held at our farm, The Leckford Estate, James Bailey committed to support more than 2,000 of our British farmers to move to nature-friendly farming practices, helping to boost financial resilience of farms in the long-term and combat the effects of climate change. 🚜 This comes in response to an industry wide need to move to more resilient farming methods and demand from Waitrose customers. Our survey showed four in ten are worried about the impact that modern farming has on nature and wildlife. You can read more about ‘Farming for Nature’ and how we are collaborating with LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) the University of Reading to support our farmers on their own farms here 📋: https://lnkd.in/ehcqNns7 📷 Photo credit: Philip Panting #FarmingForNature #DrivenByPurpose #WaitroseFarmers #FoodToFeelGoodAbout

🌾 Sustainable Ranching Practices At the East Foundation, our ranches aren't just lands for cattle - they're living laboratories for sustainable agriculture. Through our ranching operations, we pioneer and promote environmentally friendly practices that benefit the land, livestock, and wildlife. One key technique is rotational grazing. By regularly moving our cattle through different pastures, we allow vegetation to recover, prevent overgrazing, and promote healthy forage regrowth. But the benefits don't stop there! Rotational grazing also helps build soil health by aerating the ground with cattle hoof action. It reduces erosion, improves water infiltration, and sequesters more carbon in the soil. Talk about a win-win-win! Our ranching team at East Foundation carefully monitors forage conditions and makes data-driven decisions on herd movements. This innovative, science-based approach allows us to be faithful stewards of the land while running productive ranching operations. #EastFoundation #Ranching #RegenerativeAgriculture #RotationalGrazing #SustainableRanching #LandStewardship

Many developed nations are implementing strict policies surrounding fish farming or banning the practice altogether due to its devastating environmental impacts. What do investors do now? They move their operations to countries with less rules and enforcement, with the promise of economic development, food security and jobs. We'll explore in the following posts that profits rarely trickle down to the local communities. Instead, they are the ones who are exposed to pollution, ecological destruction and other negative impacts of fish farming. #ocn #oceanconservationnamibia #fishfarming #learnsomethingnew #skipthefish #oceansonervation *this post is part of an ongoing social media campaign discussing the effects of fish farming – visit ocnamibia.org for more

Our farms, covering a total of 10,600 hectares of land evenly split between Norfolk and Yorkshire, serve as vibrant ecosystems. Our greatest asset? The soil beneath our feet, nurtured with utmost respect. Soil management, protection of our environment and internal waterways are the heart of the vision of Albanwise Farming – our farming division. These, coupled with our sustainable farming practices led by our group of talented and engaged people, ensure successful and nutritious crop production. Our farms are not just expansive landscapes but home to thriving communities. Understanding our farming system..being in the world of food I always want to understand more about our food system. I also have a family interest in farming as my grandparents grew up on one and we spent a lot of childhood holidays on farms. I’m a big fan of Clarkson’s farm.. yes I know but actually it’s heartwarming and so interesting as it does showcase the reality of the farming world and the many many difficulties faced.. from weather to bureaucracy. The episode showcasing Wildfarmed is very educational.. I had heard of them and what they are doing but this really showed it and how our farming approach needs to change. I know Simon Day knows a lot more about regeneration and also it was great to see Tessa Stuart showing how customers are buying into the ethos of wildfarmed. How we live and what we take from our planet needs to become a central focus and how we support our farmers to change is so important. Check it out and see what you think #foodsystems #farming #sustainable
