Intesti-Forte: The Innovation for Piglet Health! 💧 A recent study by Schothorst Feed Research shows that our Intesti-Forte is an effective solution for reducing F4-ETEC (a cause of diarrhoea) in weaned piglets. Combined with Kanters pH Support, Intesti-Forte helps reduce bacterial excretion, improve gut health and optimise the immune response. Key findings from this study were: 🔹 Significantly less F4-ETEC in the stool 🔹 Improved intestinal structures 🔹 Tendency towards lower diarrhoea in piglets With this innovative solution, we are helping pig farmers further on their way to lower antibiotic use, improved animal health and better farm results! 💪 Want to know more? 🐔#Ammonia (NH3) in high concentrations can affect animal health and production. Many studies have highlighted the correlation between this gas and severe respiratory and skin irritation in birds, such as #pododermatitis and hock burns. 🔬 To evaluate the efficacy of BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® against ammonia production, we conducted an in vitro study with the collaboration of MicroLab Biotech SL (University of Valencia). 📉 The results demonstrated that BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® decreases NH3 levels, which improves litter quality, helps prevent footpad lesions, infections and other diseases and extends the lifespan of facilities. #BIONTE #animalnutrition #mycotoxins

🔬 What is #AntimicrobialResistance (AMR)? #AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites develop resistance to antimicrobial treatments like antibiotics, making infections increasingly difficult to treat. This has significant implications for health, agriculture, and the environment. This year, we join the FAO , UN Environment Programme , World Health Organization and World Organisation for Animal Health campaign under the theme “Educate. Advocate. Act now", aimed at raising awareness about the global impact of AMR and the need for a cross-sectoral response. #WorldAMRAwarenessWeek #EducatePromoteAct #OneHealth

Effects of maternal feeding: 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵? The power of maternal feeding on health is currently under the microscope in Denmark. The EU-funded project SeaMark is investigating how lacto-fermented rapeseed and seaweed in sow feed influence the health of both sows and their offspring. European Protein is supplying fermented feed for the trial and our R&D-company Fermentationexperts is assisting with knowledge on fermentation. Maternal feeding of lacto-fermented feed has already proven to: - 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗸 production - 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮 of sows and piglets - 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘀 in the blood of sows and their piglets Together with the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, Aalborg University and Aarhus University, we will share findings in this exciting trial, which helps us all better understand how and why protein fermented with lactic acid bacteria boosts animal health. #animalnutrition #EP199 #EP100i #fermentation #DPA Danish Pig Academy

[Antimicrobials: handle with care. Microbiota matter] Today begins World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (#WAAW), an initiative led by the World Health Organization to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (#AMR), caused by the misuse and overuse of antibiotics. 💊 The WHO regularly warns us about the misuse of antimicrobials. Both in human health and in the livestock industry, overuse has led to the emergence of resistant bacteria (environmental and pathogenic). #OneHealth Recognizing how antibiotics impact gut microbiota is vital for protecting it during treatments. Dear #HCPs, explore our resources to deepen your expertise on the microbiota's role in antimicrobial resistance. By staying informed and understanding the significance of protecting gut microbiota during antibiotic treatments, you can make a meaningful impact in this global fight. The Biocodex Microbiota Institute remains committed to supporting your expertise with up-to-date scientific knowledge and practical guidance. 🦠 In this context, we take stock and offers key resources and expertise to healthcare professionals (HCPs) to deepen their understanding of antimicrobial resistance and the role of the microbiota in this global challenge. #WorldAMRAwarenessWeek World Health Organization, FAO, World Organisation for Animal Health, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Read expert insights on #AMR here 👇 https://lnkd.in/gNQCKKAu

Artificial intelligence, especially Gen AI has the ability to transform animal nutrition by offering a more data-driven and personalised approach to feeding animals. The 2nd application is Precision feeding: AI can be used to create precision feeding programs that tailor the diet of each flock to its specific needs. This can take into account factors such as age, breed, genetics, and activity level. #WeMakeItPossible #PrecisionFarming #Verax #Sustell

New Paper Out! (Infectious Microbes & Diseases, Q3) In this editorial, I summarized and highlighted research on zoonotic geohelminth ova environmental contamination in the Philippines. I argue that this is an emerging One Health risk in the country. We already have evidence of school children seroconverting against companion animal worms. Indeed, this issue needs more attention within the medical and veterinary health fields. Tenorio, J. C. B. (2023). Soil Contamination with Zoonotic Geohelminths: Emerging Risks in the Philippines.
