[👨🔧 Meet our experts] Non-Destructive Testing: when science meets aeronautics The role of 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗡𝗗𝗧) is to 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 without causing damage. During this process, 𝗮 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝘆𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 is applied to the surface of the material being inspected. After a specified time, excess penetrant is removed, and a developer is applied to draw out the penetrant from any surface-breaking defects. The 𝗨𝗩 𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗽 is used after a specified time to 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 (in this specific example: a crack).
