Analogies work well when you want to get to the point quickly and it makes total sense. "Going back to the past and working through trauma can be painful but in the long term it'll be worth it....it's like getting that splinter that's buried deep inside. It hurts trying to get it out but it hurts more if you ignore it or try to put a bandaid on it. Once it's out, you don't need to worry about it any more." "Intensive therapy (i.e. longer blocks of therapy and more frequent) makes more sense than weekly 1 hr sessions. It's like being told you need to replace your car tires but you have to go back each week to replace one tire at a time for 4 weeks." Dr Ricky Greenwald, Found of Trauma Institute and Child Trauma Institute. I recommend using analogies sparingly. Some people don't like the over-use of them....just like a good ol' pun. What are your favourite analogies? #EMDRtherapy #EMDRintensivetherapy #traumatherapy https://lnkd.in/g3PigyRM

There's a lot to untangle between neurodiversity and trauma. In this livestream I will: - Share my own preferred explanation. - Explore some of the experiences that can lead to neurodivergent trauma. - Speak about what this means for how we think about neuro-inclusive work and workplaces. Content warning: This talk contains discussion of, though not detailed descriptions of, traumatic experiences. Recovery after Trauma is not always a quick fix, be kind to yourself if you’re going through it and if you’re supporting someone who is, be patient and recognise it doesn’t always go away. We all have to learn to adapt our processes to support those who need it and prevent further trauma. If you don’t understand how trauma could affect your team, take some time and read up on it, and if you do understand, spend an hour every now and again refreshing your memory. Who knows you may learn something new that will help you or others.

This video is for Rochelle - she submitted a question, and asked me to create a video talking to you all about lifelong trauma processing, and why some of us will process and be impacted by traumatic experiences throughout our lives. I really hope this helps you all, today. Please share and comment to boost xxx

We interact with the world (and vice versa)— through energetic spirals. In some ways the collective spirals in towards us, in other ways we spiral out to the collective. In many ways society at large is playing out unresolved trauma. ReParentive Therapy looks at what needs to change and at what level in order to shift the paradigm toward healing.
