Today is World Mental Health Day, an initiative that began in 1992 to destigamtize and prioritorize mental health and well being. This year's theme is: 'It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace ' How would you rate the mental health support in your work? We are evolving toward flexbile hours, hybrid work spaces, wellness programs, nap rooms, sports activities, toward working to live. But, long work hours are still obvious, rigid hierarchies still exist, glass ceilings are still there, stigma exists, etc. I was a victim to a toxic work environment. In my Upcoming Book: " Yellow Paint: Learning to Live Again" I discuss the impacts of that and the contribution it made to my catastrophic health crisis. Yep, it gets serious. Dialectial Behavioral Theory equates a toxic relationship with drug and alcohol abuse. Poison is Poison is Poison. Don't get me wrong. I worked with wonderful people. Extremely skilled clinicians. There were key elements of mental health unidentified and/ misunderstood at that time. But now we know more, don't we? #accountability #mentalhealth #karengoslinrsw #yellowpaint #therapy #TorontoTherapy #healthyworkplaces #HealthyWorkplaces #healthyworkplacesforall #healthyworkplacestoronto

🌏 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲: 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 🌏 Today, on 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑫𝒂𝒚, I want to reflect on this year’s official theme from the World Federation for Mental Health: "𝑰𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆." Learn more here: https://wfmh.global/. Mental health is as essential as physical health, yet it’s often overlooked in professional environments. Research shows that when workplaces are 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒇𝒆, it not only enhances employee well-being but also boosts 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒆. It’s time for organizations to build cultures where it’s 𝑶𝑲 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒌 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑, express concerns, and prioritize well-being without fear of judgment. It is crucial for organizations to create 𝒔𝒂𝒇𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒔 where employees can openly express their concerns without fear of retaliation or negative consequences on their job. This aligns with the core message of my campaign, “𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆: 𝑴𝒆𝒏’𝒔 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔”, which emphasizes that 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝑶𝑲 𝒕𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝑶𝑲. Many men feel the pressure to remain strong, even when they’re struggling inside. But in reality, true strength comes from acknowledging when things aren’t right and taking steps to seek support. 💬 𝑳𝒆𝒕’𝒔 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒈𝒎𝒂: Together, we can create workplaces where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered to prioritize their mental health. By normalizing these conversations, we build a culture where men—and everyone—can speak up and get the help they need. 🌟 Join me in this effort. Let’s make a difference in how we approach mental health at work. #ItsOkToNotBeOk #WorldMentalHealthDay #MensMentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #BreakTheSilence #WorkplaceWellbeing #BreakTheStigma

Good and sustained mental health in the workplace is not just a benefit, an app or a week of recognition, it is the outcome of great leadership. Leaders who prioritize understanding their teams and individuals, create safe environments where people can share, give feedback and most importantly listen and be heard. As we begin #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, it's important to remember that investing in mental health is an ongoing process, not just a one-time commitment. Life is not easy, and it's crucial to have the support of those around us, both in professional and private settings, to overcome the challenges that come with it. So, let's take responsibility for our own mental health and support those around us with theirs when they need it, not just when they've hit rock bottom. It doesn't take much, just ask, listen and hear. Most importantly, let's not make good mental health just about this week, an app, policy or commitment. Let's make it a priority in our lives and in the workplace. If a colleague, friend or family member calls or sends a message, answer it. That could be the difference. Remember, good mental health is not about triage but about sustainability. We don't have to wait until people are broken to fix them. Let's create a culture of support and invest time where needed. Let's make Mental Health Awareness Week just the beginning of a long-term commitment to taking care of ourselves and those around us. #mentalhealthawareness Mind

🌍 World Mental Health Day: October 10th 🌍 Today, we take a moment to reflect on the importance of mental health and well-being for individuals and communities. Mental health is just as crucial as physical health, and it's time to prioritize it in our workplaces and daily lives. 🗣️ "Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It's about how you drive, not where you're going." – Noam Shpancer, PhD Let's foster a culture of openness and support. Here are a few ways we can contribute: 1. Start Conversations: Encourage open dialogues about mental health in your workplace. Break the stigma. 2. Support Each Other: Check in on your colleagues and offer support. Sometimes, a simple "How are you?" can make a world of difference. 3. Promote Resources: Share mental health resources and tools that can help others in your network. Together, we can create a healthier, happier work environment. Remember, it’s okay not to be okay. Let’s stand together to support mental health for all! #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportEachOther #Wellbeing #WorkplaceWellness

World Mental Health Day takes place every year on October 10, to "spotlight mental health around the world, raise awareness of mental health issues, and encourage efforts to support those experiencing mental health issues". World Health Organization (WHO) has selected “𝘔𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘵 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬" as this year's theme. In a world where physical health often takes the spotlight, it's time to shine a brighter light on mental health. The mental health industry plays a crucial role in our overall well-being, yet it's often overlooked or stigmatized. It's time to change that narrative. As we navigate through the complexities of life, our mental well-being deserves the same attention and care as our physical health. Whether it's seeking therapy, practicing mindfulness, or simply starting a conversation, every step towards mental wellness is a step towards a brighter future. By fostering a culture of openness, support, and understanding, we can break down the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking the help they deserve. Let's champion mental health awareness and support initiatives that promote accessibility and inclusivity in mental health care. Together, let's make 2024 the year we prioritize mental health. #MentalHealthMatters #BreakTheStigma #WellnessWednesday"

On October 10, as declared by the World Health Organization, we come together to raise awareness about mental health and spark global efforts in support of mental well-being. Mental health is vital to our overall health. In 1926, Andrija Štampar defined health as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease. Health should be a factor in creating a better and happier life." This reminds us how central mental health is to living fully. This year’s theme, “Mental Health at Work,” shines a light on the importance of mental well-being in our professional lives. It's an opportunity for all of us — employers, employees, and mental health advocates — to discuss how far we've come and how much more we can do to ensure that mental health care becomes a reality for everyone. Let’s continue to break the stigma, raise awareness, and push for better mental health support — because a healthier mind leads to a healthier future! 💙 #KONČAR #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAtWork #MentalHealthAwareness

Today is #worldmentalhealthday, and the theme for 2024 is "It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace" October is #mentalhealthawarenessmonth September is #suicidepreventionawarenessmonth Do we notice how these two months fall right before the major holiday seasons, and before the end of the year push for financial results? This matters and the impact is real. I really love this year's theme around #mentalhealthatwork. The impact in our hybrid and #workfromhome cultures can make it harder to separate our work and personal lives, making it even harder to unplug. For all the leaders out there, don't let the push to make the final EOY numbers, or make this next quarter "the best quarter" happen at the expense of your people and their (and your own) mental health.

In the spirit of last week’s World Mental Health Day, let’s shine a light on "Mental Health at Work"! With over half of the global population in the workforce and 15% of working-age adults facing mental health challenges, the stakes are high. The cost? A huge $1 trillion lost in productivity due to depression and anxiety. But here’s the silver lining: we can turn things around! Cultivating a culture of openness and vulnerability allows leaders to transform workplaces into safe havens that boost emotional well-being. It’s time to embrace holistic health, where financial stability, community, and personal growth come together. Remember, it's perfectly okay to say, "I'm not okay," and seeking support? That’s a superpower, not a weakness! #mentalhealth #mentalhealthatwork #mentalwellbeing
