The Power of Community and Unexpected Support Last year, our Truck or TREAT event had just five attendees. This year, we almost didn't have it at all. But sometimes, support comes from unexpected places, reminding us of the power of community and perseverance. After the floods, our spirits were low, and we considered skipping the event. Then, during a call with by team at Method Q, they asked if I needed anything. I casually mentioned candy would be helpful. What happened next was truly heartwarming. Over the next week, boxes upon boxes of candy arrived - more than 650 individually wrapped pieces! The generosity was overwhelming. During our board meeting, as I shared this unexpected bounty, we collectively decided to move forward with Truck or TREAT. The result? Over 100 people came together for a night of joy, laughter, and community bonding. It was a powerful reminder that even in challenging times, small acts of kindness can spark significant positive change. This experience reinforced a valuable lesson: never underestimate the impact of reaching out and offering support. Sometimes, it's the catalyst needed to bring a community together and create unforgettable moments. I'm grateful for the unexpected support that made this event possible and for every community member who came out to celebrate. When I think about embracing my nesting instinct, I gravitate toward the bedroom and want the bed to be made and laundry put away. I love to curl up with a book so warmth and coziness around me is the goal. Here is a tip to help you embrace the nesting instinct this month: Make it a group effort: They say teamwork makes the dream work, and the same holds true for maintaining a cozy home. Get your loved ones involved in the process of creating a serene living space. Whether it's decluttering common areas together or organizing personal spaces collaboratively, sharing the effort not only lightens the workload but the combined energy transforms your home. As a professional home organizer, if one of your goals is to declutter and get organized, I can help you. My passion is helping empty nesters and seniors downsize. I like this list. I would add that something else that St. Louis does really well is Rally. Some examples of this: Neighbors – Although we have our flaws, STL sure showed out to support more than 1,200 Afghan refugees that have come to the area since 2021. STL's growth has been bolstered by refugees and it is great to see STL churches and NGO’s like Oasis International Ministries and the International Institute of St. Louis Rally around this effort. Philanthropy – The city can sure Rally around a good cause. This is shown by STL being traditionally ranked highly as an area strong in charitable giving. Fidelity Investments’s “2023 Geography of Giving” ranked STL #1 in “Local Charity Support”. This is reflected annually on Give STL Day, where the community rallies around local charities. Squirrels – We can sure Rally around a squirrel. If you know, you know. Symbols of Us – Whether it is the Arch, a River, our Flag, a Toasted Ravioli, March 14th or a Band Aid on your cheek, STL sure loves to Rally around symbols of us. #STL is not a perfect place and even we (St Louisans) are quick to point that out. Being Midwesterners, we don’t celebrate what we do well enough. Nice to see a story Rally around The Lou! https://lnkd.in/gEbag92z
