#transcript Mark Galvin, Co-Founder, President & CEO of TALON, discusses the Transparency in Coverage rule in healthcare, which was added to the Affordable Care Act & requires commercial health plan sponsors to provide transparency in the costs of tests, procedures, & other medical services. The rule aims to provide patients with information on pricing & out-of-pocket costs before committing to services. The lack of awareness & understanding of the rule is in part due to the vested interests of certain stakeholders, such as insurance carriers, who are financially conflicted in driving down the cost of medical claims. #HealthcareCosts #Hospitals #ReduceHealthcareCosts talonhealthtech.com https://lnkd.in/gS4rKBQu

PSA - If you have planned medical procedure, like getting a mole removed, you can find out what the cost is before the procedure is done. Here's how: 1. Call the provider and ask them for the #CPT codes they will using to submit to insurance. 2. Most carriers offer the ability to search #CPT codes within your user portal. 3. Search the code and it shows you an estimated cost for the plan you are enrolled in. I search #CPT code 11402 - estimated cost for this is $218.00 on my health plan.. Pretty easy, huh? #advocacy Brinson Benefits, Inc.

And another one….. MultiPlan is embroiled in a new class action lawsuit accusing the company and major health insurers of colluding to “fix, suppress, and stabilize” payments for out-of-network medical claims. Filed by the for-profit hospital company Allegiance Health Management, the lawsuit intensifies the broken relationship between hospitals and MultiPlan, a data technology vendor collaborating with leading insurers to set payments for out of network care. This legal action follows a New York Times investigation that highlighted how MultiPlan and its insurance clients profit by underpaying hospitals. The lawsuit also exposes some distorted incentives in the healthcare system: out-of-network providers charging excessive fees, insurers maximizing profits by minimizing these payments, and patients caught in the middle, often facing bills they can’t afford. https://lnkd.in/gjAHwi6U
