In every footprint, in every plan, We honor the earth, where time began. Heritage speaks through soil and stone, Preserved in layers, deeply sown. When a chance find comes to light, We act with care, with laws in sight. Mitigation plans and surveys keen, Protecting relics, both seen and unseen. Cultural assets, we hold dear, Each artifact tells a story clear. Through EIA and risk review, We safeguard history, old and true. Archaeological sites, fragile and grand, We protect with a gentle hand. With every excavation, with every find, We cherish the past, preserving in kind. Our commitment runs both deep and wide, In heritage, we take great pride. Balancing progress with respect for time, We weave the future, in rhythm and rhyme.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Venice Charter, this year's #InternationalDayofMonumentsandSites calls for reflection on the relevance of the Charter in the light of current disasters and conflicts. 🏛️ The International Charter for the Restoration of Monuments and Sites (also known as the Venice Charter of 1964) was adopted to reaffirm the shared responsibility to protect ancient monuments as a common heritage. 🏛️ The Charter provides an international framework to serve as a basis for the conservation, restoration and excavation of historic monuments. Article 7: “A monument is inseparable from the history to which it bears witness and from the setting in which it occurs.” Do you have any thoughts on whether the Charter is still relevant today? Let’s discuss it in the comments! Conseil international des monuments et des sites (ICOMOS) UNESCO #18April #ICOMOS #IDMS2024 #icomosIDMS2024

Thessaloniki opened it's first metro line since its founding in 315 BC by King Cassander of Macedon. The Project was more archaeology than construction! Like Milan's M4, Rome's Metro C and, Sydney Metro (where more than 85,000 artifacts have been catalogued), it's 10km of line and 13 stations saw Thessaloniki‘s most extensive archaeological excavations to date. Spanning 30,000 square meters discoveries included marble slabs from the famous Roman road, the Decumanus Maximus, ancient Thessaloniki drainage channels, Christian-era buildings, and a Byzantine market with shops and small artefacts. Webuild, with partners Hitachi Rail and AKTOR S, built all the tunnels 20m deep to protect artefacts closer to the surface and redesigned some stations, including Demokratias Station that was shifted 10m to conserve a Byzantine-era wall found during the excavation. Thessaloniki Metro is Webuild's second metro in Greece after Athens Metro Line 3. Well done team Thessaloniki Metro! #sustainablemobility #metro #construction #archaeology #thessaloniki

Talk about circularity!
Stonehenge, the world’s most famous prehistoric monument, continues to surprise and amaze. Researchers on Wednesday revealed that the long-mysterious “Altar Stone” at the heart of Stonehenge came from faraway Scotland, raising tantalizing new questions about how — and why — a six-ton slab of sandstone made its way from north to south 5,000 years ago.
