Learning to say “no” to myself was my greatest achievement in 2024. It took a lot of discipline to suppress my desire to build “cool” features and shut down awesome product ideas. What made it so difficult was that these ideas didn’t just come from my gut feelings. They were requested explicitly by our most active users. Saying “no”—especially to great ideas—is the hardest part of my startup journey. Even though saying “no” can be tough, that’s what it takes to stay focused. Every successful entrepreneur defines “focus” as “saying no.” It’s very easy to get distracted and build really awesome products, but it’s way more difficult to stay disciplined and grind on the most important tasks. I realized that’s what it takes to build something great. I’m really excited to publish our goals for 2025. It’s a very short list. In fact, there are just three goals.
