**Finding the Beauty in Green Spaces: A Journey of Rediscovery** Recently, I rediscovered the incredible beauty of London through its green spaces. As I wandered through the city’s parks, gardens, and hidden patches of nature, I began paying closer attention to the ecology and the life that thrives in these spaces. It made me reflect on how, as humans, we coexist with these natural environments, especially for those of us who have grown up surrounded by the urban landscape. Growing up in a city like London often means being surrounded by buildings, concrete, and a fast-paced lifestyle that leaves little room for rest and reflection. Yet, this project has prompted me to rethink how I design my life—how I can carve out moments to rest, breathe, and connect with the natural world around me. It's about discovering and cherishing the "green scars" that weave through our cities, transforming them into spaces that inspire peace and reflection. As I launch my latest exhibition today, I want to explore this idea further. It’s an invitation to rethink how we interact with nature and to realize that even in a city as dense as London, there are natural gems closer than we might think. Whether it’s a small, tucked-away garden, a leafy square, or a quiet path in one of London’s many parks, these spaces are all around us, waiting to be discovered and appreciated. By caring more about these green spaces and the life they nurture, we are also caring for ourselves. When we pay attention to the ecology around us, we find ways to nurture our own well-being and creativity. So, wherever you are in London—or any city for that matter—I encourage you to slow down, explore, and connect with the green spaces nearby. You might be surprised at how much beauty and tranquillity are just around the corner. Exhibition: Contours of belonging Event launch FREE Date: September 11th 2024 Time: 4pm - 7:30pm Location: SPACE Ilford, 10 Oakfield Rd, Ilford IG1 1ZJ #artexhibition #exhibition #jewellery #fineart #filmart #londonartist

🌟 Exciting News in the Hospitality Industry! 🌟 I just came across an interesting article about 21c Museum Hotels expanding to Indianapolis! 🏨🎨 Ennismore has signed on for their largest gallery space to date, which will undoubtedly enhance the city’s vibrant art scene and provide a unique experience for guests. As a Right-of-Way Agent in the transportation industry, I see a strong connection between developments like this and our work in facilitating growth and progress in urban areas. The decision to repurpose the old city hall space for this new concept is a fantastic example of how we can breathe new life into existing structures rather than resorting to demolition. This approach not only preserves the historical character of our communities but also promotes sustainability and economic development. In our role, we often navigate the complexities of land acquisition and permitting for transportation projects, and understanding the cultural impact of these developments is crucial. Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that new infrastructure complements and enhances the local environment—much like the integration of art in hospitality—can lead to more successful outcomes for everyone involved. I'm excited to see how this new 21c location will influence the community and inspire similar projects in the future! What are your thoughts on the intersection of art, culture, and transportation development? #RightOfWay #Transportation #UrbanDevelopment #21cMuseumHotels #Indianapolis #Sustainability #CulturalPreservation #Innovation https://lnkd.in/gmTbWm6E

Visiting art galleries has become a part of my work. Art spaces have long been an inspiration.... I find visiting #FrancisBacon's art studio; now in a Dublin Art Gallery very moving. Firstly because of the creative chaos in which he worked, and secondly because of the vision the gallery curator had to transfer the whole studio, in precise detail, from London and re-construct it in the #HughLaneGallery. Francis Bacon describes the external mess in the studio as a representation of his internal mind and his life. What is your office/workspace like? Is it a creative mess which inspires you, or perhaps oppresses you. Is a tidy, organised and disciplined space? Do you have art in the space? Do you have plants or pets? Or is your space clinically clean? Do you work in a shared office which suits your inner needs, that inspires you, or perhaps the opposite? Does your workspace mirror your inner life, as it does for Bacon? The spaces we inhabit, the milieu's and contexts we create for ourselves say a lot about us. What does your workplace environment say about you? #art #artgallery #creativity

When evaluating a potential home, consider its proximity to cultural attractions, entertainment venues, and dining options that align with and enrich your lifestyle. Living near museums, theaters, parks, and popular restaurants can significantly enhance your day-to-day experience, offering both convenience and a vibrant social life. Additionally, take the time to research the property's historical significance or architectural features, if applicable. Understanding the home's unique history or distinctive design elements can deepen your appreciation for the property, making it not just a place to live, but a meaningful part of your life story. Whether it's a historic building with a rich past or a modern home with innovative design, these characteristics can add value and personal connection to your investment. #homeownership #homebuyingtips #mortgagelender

Bringing the Garden to the Expo: A Wonderland Experience What if you could step into a garden, right in the heart of an exhibition? Imagine walking through lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and the serene atmosphere of a well-tended backyard—all while at a bustling event. This was the vision we brought to life at Showbench creating an immersive experience that felt more like stepping into a dream than attending a typical expo. Much like Alice’s journey into Wonderland, we aimed to transport our visitors into a space where the boundaries between nature and innovation blur. By bringing the tranquility and beauty of a garden into the exhibition hall, we were able to inspire creativity, spark conversations, and showcase how nature can coexist with modern design in unexpected ways. This experience was not just about aesthetics—it was about offering an escape. A moment of peace amid the noise, a reminder that even in the busiest of environments, we can always find a little piece of nature. 🌿 If you're passionate about transforming spaces and creating meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impression, let's connect! Together, we can explore how design can reshape the way we interact with the world around us. #DesignInnovation #EventExperience #NatureMeetsInnovation #ExhibitionDesign #SustainabilityInDesign #CreativeSpaces

When you think of Paris, what pops into your head? Maybe it’s the Eiffel Tower glinting in the sunlight, the romantic Seine River winding through the city, or the famous Louvre museum. But between all those iconic sights lie the charming Haussmannian buildings that give the city its unmistakable vibe. These architectural beauties are more than just homes; they tell the story of how Paris evolved in the 19th century. Let’s explore the fascinating history behind these buildings and why they’re such an important part of Parisian culture.

On the Olympics Opening Ceremony. The event sought to incorporate urban spaces into its design, aiming for more city-centric celebrations. However, the grand scale of the setup might have exceeded the intimate interaction typically preferred in ceremonies and urban festivities, suggesting a need to reevaluate the configuration and vision to better align with people centered urbanist principles. Despite these challenges, the event showcased several highlights that effectively utilized the city's iconic settings. The fountain ballet along the Seine, set against a golden backdrop, was visually striking but did not fully capture the cityscape's grandeur. Gojira’s performance at the Castle showcased monumental architecture. The staging of a single horse flying over the river fell short of the setting’s potential—envisioning a larger group of riders might have better expressed a sense of French unity. Additionally, the remarkable lighting at the Eiffel Tower enhanced the spectacle, although its visibility was limited to a few. The event culminated with Celine Dion’s performance, which, while breathtaking, highlighted an ongoing issue: the lack of substantial at city visual elements that resonate with the city’s vast scale. This observation raises the question of whether the artistic vision of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Paris installation could have inspired a proposal to wrap or at least mimic wrapping the urban scene. Such an approach could create a compelling narrative along the river's remarkable cityscape. This deficiency was particularly noticeable when compared to lesser complex but similarly large-scale city events like New York’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade or Rio’s Carnival, which feature extensive public participation and are deeply integrated into their cityscapes, achieving lasting impact and significance. #ceremonies #urbanscale #architecture #temporaryspaces #cityscapes #placemaking #design #peoplecentered #places https://lnkd.in/efNNKF-i

This week's blog post takes us to my second hometown, Hong Kong, where we ascend to The Peak to capture the iconic Hong Kong skyline during the evening blue hour. We contemplate the remarkable success of this city, which evolved from a humble fishing village into a thriving economic hub in Southeast Asia. Additionally, we explore the cultural contrasts in the perception of density between the East and the West. Quiet Aperture is my blog about the stories behind the photographs I capture, as well as architecture, urban design, and urbanism. If you find it interesting, please consider subscribing and sharing it with anyone who may be interested. #architecture #urbandesign #urbanism #hongkong #photography #density
