Old school and probably not popular but I still believe products should be customer-satisfaction focused/led rather than technology-led. Use cases for AI should be byproducts of the product improvement process primarily. The thing though is that founders need to fundraise so they're likely to sprinkle some AI on their decks to even look serious. Not sure that's how the most enduring companies have been built. Of course, if sources of capital become AI-biased, founders have little choice. Happy to keep an open mind and dive in when a use-case that can 10x customer experience for Good Tenants customers and users shows up.

Stripe analyzed data from its 100 fastest-growing AI customers and compared their revenue growth to 100 top SaaS companies from 2018, marking the start of the SaaS era. Notable AI customers include Anthropic, OpenAI, and Midjourney. The data reveals that AI startups reach $1M in annualized revenue in a median of 11 months, compared to 15 months for SaaS companies. Furthermore, AI startups scale from $1M to $30M at five times the rate of SaaS companies, indicating exceptionally rapid growth. However, this fast growth comes with unique challenges. AI companies face high initial compute costs that put pressure on them to monetize quickly. As Emily Sands from Stripe noted, “AI companies pay substantial compute costs out of the gates, so are under pressure to build monetization faster.” The differences in business models are significant. AI companies often charge based on usage (per task, per API call), whereas SaaS companies traditionally rely on subscription fees. Additionally, AI companies focus heavily on data acquisition, model training, and algorithm refinement to improve product value, while early SaaS companies prioritized optimizing user experience and customer retention. These factors highlight the distinct challenges and growth opportunities facing AI startups. While their revenue growth is remarkable, the pressure to scale rapidly and manage high upfront costs presents unique obstacles that must be navigated to sustain long-term success. We in the Silicon Valley have taken a position that the only thing we should be doing is injecting AI in to everything we do. And the big 5 Indian outsourcing companies are also drilling the same in to the brains of everyone in the organization. AI or DIE Greg Head does his homework and brings us to the reality. We have seen this in the past. Rewriting everything in Java or committing to J2EE architecture will not revolutionize business. Moving all data to Hadoop won't guarantee better business intelligence. Moving everything to Cloud will not cut IT costs by 95%. Moving data warehouse to AWS RedShift is not a sliced bread kind of invention. What are the questions people are asking in the Silicon Valley? Can we use LLM to retire our complex ERP systems? (Oracle, SAP, MFG-PRO, Infor, Sage etc) Can we use LLM to retire our expensive and clunky HRMS ?(Oracle, Workday, SAP, ADP etc) Can we use LLM to retire CRM ?(SFDC, Oracle, SAP etc). Can we use LLM to rewrite our homegrown applications for high throughput? Why not? LLM advocates say if you give your requirements to (ERP, HRMS, CRM, Custom applications) LLM, you can have your own software that will work for your requirements and it will cost nothing. And no expensive SaaS fees, No multi-million upgrades and no money for expensive consultants. If this becomes true, it will be the end of multi trillion $ software industries. Dream on LLM fans. We are not there at. Similar promises were made by Indian offshore outsourcing companies. That they will take over the IT and run it from India for 1/5th the cost.
