Are you a college student who could use some support as you manage the opportunities and challenges you're experiencing on or off campus? ********* My hope for you is that you've finished the fall term on a positive note and you're looking forward to a well-earned break for the next few weeks. But college is HARD in so many ways, and I know that many (most!) students struggled with one thing or another this term. There are so many decisions to make, so many new experiences, so many pressures from different directions. It can be very overwhelming and it can feel very isolating. I love supporting students like you -- or yours, if you're a parent! The struggles are real, and there are tools that you can use to learn how to navigate through them. I'm offering a special type of coaching session in January and February 2024. These slots are complimentary -- no charge! -- but they are limited, so take advantage by DMing me for the scheduling link. The sessions are an hour with time learning what coaching with me is all about AND time for a short coaching session around an issue or concern that is important to you. If you're not ready to make an appointment just yet, no worries! You can always schedule a complimentary exploratory session at Lost and Found Coaching at www.lostandfoundcoach.com. These sessions are available regularly throughout the year and if they don't fit your schedule, we can work on a more agreeable time. Don't hesitate to read more about me and my services at Lost and Found Coaching, and contact me with questions through my website or by DMing me here. #coach #coaching #collegestudents #professionaldevelopment #personalgrowth #criticalthinking #challengesandopportunities #LostandFoundCoaching

Yes! In executive function coaching we design your most effective daily system of operation which includes modifying your habits and routines and implementing external motivators like...white boards, planners, and sticky notes. Coaching, as a co-active process, however, offers interventions and strategies that guides students towards self-regulation and self-management. It takes *sometimes* years to fully learn how to self-direct and regulate by using mental capabilities to accomplish academic and every day tasks. Whiteboards, sticky notes, and planners are examples of *tools that help students cognitively and meta cognitively process, understand, and gain motivation to engage and persist in tasks and academic goals. Daily behaviors/habits= long-term academic goals. #executivefunctioning #executivefunctioningskills #executivefunction #college #student #collegestudentstruggle #collegestudents #collegestudent #telecoaching #ictks #kansaslifecoach #executivefunctioncoach #helpcollegestudents #share #newstudents #howtostudy #academicsuccess

For many years, I worked as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher, helping students who had been excluded from school, those who didn't fit into a system that was failing them, and those who didn’t want to be in the room. These were the individuals who struggled to fit in, who needed more than just a typical education system to thrive. And in those moments, I found my true calling. I found that teaching was more than just delivering lessons – it was about helping people discover who they could be and guiding them to become the best version of themselves in that moment. The same energy, patience, and understanding that I poured into those students is what I now bring to my coaching practice. As a coach, I approach every session with the mindset that every individual has untapped potential. I use my teaching background to break things down in a way that makes sense, to show the why behind the actions and decisions, so people can step forward with confidence. It’s not just about giving people the tools – it’s about making sure they understand why those tools are important and how they can apply them in their lives. The transition from teacher to coach was a natural one for me because at the heart of both roles is the desire to help others thrive. This is my "why": helping people be the best version of themselves – wherever they are on their journey. It’s powerful, it’s fulfilling, and it’s what drives me every single day. Whether you're working on personal growth, business development, or overcoming challenges, know that I’m here to help you find that clarity and confidence to take the next step. #FromTeacherToCoach #HelpingYouGrow #PersonalGrowth #Mindset #Empowerment #BestVersionOfYou

𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 to finally have more time to dive back into my #𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠! Earlier this academic year, I started an online course at the University of Suffolk to initiate myself to the philosophy and methodology of #PsychMapping. This promising consultation method helps generate a visual representation of a client’s complex reality, depicting influential factors and their role in the client’s life. Producing this visual support facilitates the client’s understanding of their current state. An additional advantage to PsychMapping is the opportunity for the client to take back home a ‘product’ from the consultation. This allows them to better remember the topics discussed during the session, thereby promoting longer-lasting change and growth. Being a visual-learner myself, I found additional value as a professional to have a visual representation of the work I conduct with my clients. The Knowledge Map developed in the practice of PsychMapping has a fundamental aim: to reconnect and integrate research findings across a variety of niche areas, in order to answer real-life problems. Let me explain: When asking a question such as ‘How can a coach’s behavior explain athletes’ sport enjoyment?’ (taken from the course), you would likely get very different answers depending on the professional you ask. This is because along our academic development, we progressively specialize into increasingly more specific (i.e., niche) areas. And this determines the angle from which we would answer the previous question, providing a panel of answers that are probably all correct and yet very different. The KnowledgeMap is there to create an integration of all these relevant answers, amounting to 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. I look forward to learning more about its practice in the coming weeks! Thank you James Young for introducing me to it ! #PsychMapping #SportPsychology #Growth #Coaching #ProfessionalDevelopment

Heading into a new school year, I am thinking about the likely top ten topics that educators are likely to bring to our coaching conversations. I suspect that these will be similar challenges for people in a range of industries and organisations so I thought I'd do a couple of posts which might help to develop some useful strategies for reaching the end of the year still feeling fresh and motivated. Today: Let's think about EXPECTATIONS We must have goals and a vision of where we want to be and we all know about stretch goals but wait! Just check that your expectations are real world; ask yourself these two questions; 1. Are they my expectations of myself, or are they what I think someone expects of me?) 2. Is the emotional, time or other cost reasonable?

Recently, a former student of mine visited me to express their gratitude by presenting me with a card and a bag of candy. This gesture served as a timely affirmation, reinforcing my decision to pursue certification as a professional coach. Throughout my teaching career, I have consistently encountered individuals, including students, teachers, and administrators, who recognized potential in me that I had yet to fully acknowledge. I frequently received comments such as "Ms. Muhammad, you are more than just a teacher." This prompted me to embark on an introspective journey to discover the essence of being "more than a teacher." My conclusion is that I am a coach. Coaching falls within the purview of the information and wellness industry. I derive immense satisfaction from both teaching and assisting individuals in achieving personal growth and fulfillment, as I believe we are capable of more than mere survival. Positive psychology and people-centered approaches to coaching has so much potential in our community. In my opinion, one of the most detrimental effects of oppressive systems is the erosion of confidence. The fear of confirming negative stereotypes can hinder personal and professional development, creating a self-fulfilling cycle of failure. In contrast, I strive to instill confidence in my students and clients, empowering them to realize their full potential and achieve their heartfelt aspirations. #RadicalBlackEducator #ConfidenceCoaching #TheAfterSchoolClub

Ever feel like you’re pulled in too many directions with endless paths to explore but not enough time? Me too 🙋🏼♂️ What if we tackled these opportunities like experiments from a science class? When I find myself overwhelmed by possibilities, I take an experimental approach - here's how: 1️⃣ I pick one path to explore for a set period, say 6 months. 2️⃣ I clearly define what I hope to achieve and map out potential obstacles and opportunities. 3️⃣ Then, I dive in. At the end of the 'experiment', I take stock: Did this path lead to the outcomes I anticipated? If yes, I consider ways to dive deeper. If no, I pivot and set up a new experiment. This allows us to give each path the focus it deserves, making informed decisions based on real results rather than spreading ourselves too thin. Has anyone else tried this experimental approach to managing goals or projects? How did it go? Would love to hear your thoughts and strategies on staying focused amidst multiple possibilities! ~~~ 🔥 I’m Zach and I exist to help you achieve your vision because I believe everyone deserves to live a life they love. I provide group coaching related to topics like this inside of the Harmony Growth Lab Community - DM me if you want in 👊 #personaldevelopment #sustainability #experiment

💡 Coach the person, not the problem 💡 When trying to support a student who is struggling academically or socially, it's common to want to solve the problem. But the challenge with a "problem-solving" approach is that you’ll likely find yourself forcing a solution that belongs to you, not the student. This looks like: "Why don't you spend two hours revising tonight ?" "When are you gonna start taking this more seriously? The alternative? Coaching the person, not the problem by helping the student reflect on themselves and their motivations. This looks like: "What is stopping you from doing well in class?" "What is motivating you to behave this way?" So, the next time you are faced with a student's problem, remember: 👉 Focusing on the person not the problem helps a student find their own answers and feel empowered to make better choices. 👈 #Coaching #Education #ContinuingEducation #Learning #ProfessionalDevelopment
