**New Blog Post** What Taylor Swift Can Teach Us About Estate Planning Regardless of your feelings about her music, her attendance at National Football League games, or anything else related to the popstar, it’s hard to argue that Taylor Swift isn’t a cultural phenomenon. In 2023, Taylor launched a multi-city tour that broke records for attendance, sales, merchandising, and gross revenue; the Federal Reserve credited her with boosting the country’s economy; and Time magazine named her Person of the Year. Many Black entrepreneurs may not have access to these resources or may not have the necessary connections or experience. Industry barriers: The film industry is notoriously difficult to break into, even for established professionals. Barriers to entry include networking, connections, and access to decision-makers. Stereotypes and biases: Unfortunately, there are still biases and stereotypes within the industry that can hinder the success of Black entrepreneurs. For example, some producers or investors may not take Black-led projects seriously or may be skeptical of their potential success. Fear of isolation: Starting a new venture can be isolating, especially if it's not supported by the broader industry. Some Black entrepreneurs may be hesitant to leave the relative safety of established companies or networks. However, there are signs of change: Increased representation: The rise of streaming platforms has created new opportunities for diverse storytelling and representation. Growing demand for diverse content: Audiences are increasingly demanding more diverse content, leading to a growing market for stories told by and about people of color. New talent emerging: A new generation of Black creatives is emerging, with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.

Tyler Perry's decision to leave Hollywood? Creative control: By leaving Hollywood, Perry gained complete creative control over his projects, allowing him to tell stories that reflected the experiences and perspectives of Black people without interference from industry gatekeepers. Inclusivity: Perry wanted to create a space where Black talent could thrive and feel represented. He saw an opportunity to build a community where Black writers, directors, and actors could work together and support each other. Atlanta's film-friendly environment: Atlanta offers a more business-friendly environment, with lower production costs, tax incentives, and a growing pool of talented local crew members. This allowed Perry to produce high-quality content without breaking the bank. Access to diverse storytelling: Atlanta's diverse population and rich cultural heritage provided Perry with access to unique stories and perspectives that might be harder to find in Los Angeles. As for why other Black entrepreneur executives in the film industry haven't followed suit, there are several reasons: Lack of access to resources: Starting a studio or production company requires significant resources, including funding, equipment, and infrastructure. Many Black entrepreneurs may not have access to these resources

THIS IS HOW YOU BUILD FANS. It doesn't start with marketing or guest service. It starts at the very top. Jesse Cole isn't sitting in a suite pre-game. He's with his employees, talking about ONE FAN AT A TIME. He's not delivering some BS "let's go deliver great customer service" speech. He's reminding everyone in his organization of their larger purpose that gets drilled home every. single. day. He's articulating clear examples of what Fans First means, how to deliver it, and how NOT to deliver it. "It's not just delivering a rose to a little girl. It's delivering a rose to a little girl and staying there for a picture with the family." People wonder how the Savannah Bananas have achieved this level of success. People mistakenly attribute it to their social media prowess, or the incredible antics of the players on the field. Those things contribute, but they don't happen without a leader painting a vivid, ambitious purpose and direction. If your President / CEO / Owner isn't fanatical about fans, you'll never have close to the type of impact (and success) the Bananas are having.

Before the biggest game in Savannah Bananas history, we met as a team and I shared this one message for the group. Jared Orton, our President spoke before me and acknowledged everyone who had made this happen which was so powerful and then I wanted to simplify what we've been doing from day one and how it could translate to 41,000 fans. We were certainly questioned by many before we played at Houston. Was I nervous? Of course. I wanted to make sure we delivered on our Fans First promise. But I knew that the only way to do that was to focus on one fan at a time. We had to remember what got us here. When we sold our first ticket to one fan back in 2015, I remembered how big of a moment that was. When we had our first sell out back in 2016 and we acknowledged the fans that showed up and believed in us. Yes, we were on a much bigger stage. But what matters most is how we make people feel like they matter. That's what got us to this point. That fans first mentality and that every game is someone's first game. The growth of our team has been bigger than I could ever imagine. But it's always the human connection and joy that drives all of us. No matter how many fans we entertain this year and in the years to come, I hope the mindset of thinking about one fan at a time always stays true and helps guide our team.

Sports organizations are service businesses. They serve to entertain. This is a strong example for any service business that focusing on providing the best possible experience for every customer and how that can be a differentiator in the marketplace. Healthcare, travel, entertainment, all can learn from the Bananas on what exceptional hospitality can do for your brand. No clinic or restaurant is too busy. That’s an excuse. If these guys can entertain and provide exceptional hospitality to 41,000 fans in one night, you can provide exceptional service to your customers as well. This is what would keep your competition up at night. #onefanatatime #hospitality #differentiation #learnfromsports
