Less than 12 hours remain until the sun rises into the 49th year of Independence for our beloved motherland, Papua New Guinea. 🇵🇬 Two years ago, I wrote this message, and I feel it still resonates deeply today: "Happy 49th Independence Day to my home country, Papua New Guinea. 🇵🇬" As I prepare to celebrate this day from another land, I reflect on what we once were, what we are now, and what we can become when we stand united. A nation that bleeds patriotism every year on the 16th of September—so diverse, yet united. My vision for PNG is this: a nation where our culture is one of building, fostering growth, empowering women, thriving in agriculture, enjoying a consistent and reliable supply of electricity, and having a transparent electoral system. I envision a country with strong governance that holds everyone accountable, where law and order prevail, and crime is reduced. A PNG where our health system is well-funded and fully equipped with the medical services, products, and facilities our people need—so that no one has to raise 100K to seek care overseas. Where roads reach even the remotest areas, education is free for all children, and clean, safe water is accessible. Where job security is a reality for young people who leave the education system, and where all children have access to healthy, nutritious diets. I dream of a nation where maternal and neonatal deaths are reduced, alternative market opportunities empower both men and women, and gender-based violence is no longer tolerated—where perpetrators face the full force of the law, backed by political will and community support. We are progressing, but much work remains. That is my prayer for PNG. Is it ambitious? Yes. But it is not impossible. We can only achieve this, if we stand united. God bless Papua New Guinea, the land of a thousand tribes. 🇵🇬❤️
Happy 49th Anniversary PNG
Interesting But government of the day are dependant and borrow money from other countries to run its affairs next year and PNG Will celebrate 50 years. After that we don't know our political leaders #who will take lead to change our country forwards or to shrinks our economic causing many social, political, economic and law order issues.
Kathy, Happy Independence Anniversary. Senior Statesman Mr Paul Nerau delivered the same sentiment, but he also added some steps. Unfortunately, students and staff missed their opportunity. One key takeaway was: we as individuals can solve our problems. No one or no huge money from overseas will fix our problems. One of the greatest waste of money is lack of time keeping by citizens of this country.
I really like your quotes and I feels it deeply within my heart. Happy 49th Independence Day to you all the way from Port Moresby National Parliament Flag Raising Mountain 🇵🇬🇵🇬🇵🇬🇵🇬
What a lovely prayer..I truly agree 👍
I love your vision, that should be simple enough and common sense enough to implement, yet so far to achieve in this technological and millions of cash age.
