I: Inclusion. The challenge for a teacher in how to ensure the needs of all the students are met from diverse backgrounds, lifestyles and learning behaviours, is one that is like no other sector. Knowing your children/students is one of the largest barriers to overcome. However, once you have found a way over this, it makes lesson delivery so much easier for you in that class. Teaching Standards - Can we genuinely say we're meeting all of these for every child? From the perspective of a child with PDA, the rigidity of traditional learning environments, only heightens their anxiety and avoidance, sidelining them from active participation. Rethinking classroom space isn't merely about physical layouts; it's about crafting emotional and social landscapes that foster inclusion and respect for their unique needs. We need to shift from viewing space as a backdrop to recognising it as a pivotal player in the educational journey. #Inclusion #Education #PDA #SEND #Teacher #Teaching #Exclusion #Educationaljustice #spatiality #InnovativeTeaching #ClassroomDesign #ChildCenteredLearning 🌟

As a parent, you are your child's fiercest advocate. You are the one who knows them best, understands their strengths and challenges, and is committed to their success. When it comes to their education, you want to ensure they receive the support they need. This is where clear communication becomes paramount. I have a personal connection to this topic. While my daughter does not face any learning disabilities, I have always valued the ability to communicate effectively with her teachers and school administrators. Being able to talk with them in a language I am comfortable with allows me to better understand her progress and work collaboratively with her educators to ensure she receives the best possible education. At TRADUCIRE, we regularly translate academic documents, and I have witnessed firsthand the impact that effective communication can have on students. I have seen: ✔️ how a well-translated Individualized Education Program (IEP) can empower parents to understand their child's needs and advocate for their rights. ✔️ how clear communication between teachers and parents can lead to the development of personalized learning strategies that help students flourish. We need to make a fundamental shift in our approach to educational support. ✨ The language we use matters.✨ #IEP #SpecialEducation #EducationForAll #IEPTranslation #Translation #T8N #L11N #LinguisticServices

Leading SEND & Inclusion in Mainstream Classrooms: how to demonstrate pupils’ learning and progress On Thursday 12 Dec, I attended an inspirational conference “Leading SEND & Inclusion in Mainstream” sponsored by ‘Evidence for Learning’ (EfL). That event truly put the child with SEND at the centre of their schooling and learning. Highly engaging speakers provided time for reflection, while addressing some fundamental questions: 🎯How do we work as a more effective team around the pupil? 🎯How do we better engage and empower families? 🎯Who are our learners and what does learning look like for different levels of need? 🎯What are we doing? 🎯Ambitions and aspirations for learners with SEND. 🎯What is the impact? 🎯How do we know and evidence success? 🎯So what and what next? 🎯Where is the child? Learners’ voice and agency. Cheryl Gaugham, JMAT Schools, highlighted the importance of external reviews in evaluating provisions, including teacher and leaders’ engagement with focused observations that provide opportunities for teachers’ reflection and development on what they can do next / how and why. Cheryl emphasised how objective external evaluations positively sealed and validated internal processes/SEF to further improve provision, resulting in better outcomes for pupils with SEND in mainstream education. Case studies presented by other speakers, including Alex Revens, Belmont School in Harrow, or Stephen Hull, a parent’s perspective, illustrated the value of effective inclusion models, and how these were led by evidence enabled through EfL. They also demonstrated the significance of constructive communication between service providers and home. Syra Sowe, VP, Seiss Cottage School, stressed how ambition and aspirations were the key ingredients for the most vulnerable learners to succeed, and how to articulate and evidence personalised progress made by young people with SEND. Great attendance too, of about 80 delegates, on the school Christmas jumper day 😊 Many thanks to EfL and Swiss Cottage School DRC. #SEND #Inclusion #EfL #Belonging #EvidrnceForLearning #Neurodiversity #Selfworth
