Cerebellar mutism is a rare but important complication of neurosurgery. Wei Yang et al. used voxel-based lesion-symptom mapping (VLSM) to predict cerebellar mutism syndrome (CMS) occurence prior to surgery. The model predicts CMS risk and reveals links between CMS and motor dysfunction, highlighting the cerebellum's role in motor planning and verbal fluency. #EuropeanRadiology 🔗 https://buff.ly/3E2D6oA

What conditions can be treated with minimally invasive surgery? In this video, Dr Mansour discusses the approach to treating various neurological pathologies, emphasizing the preference for minimally invasive methods whenever possible. He mentions the use of functional neurosurgery to address conditions like Parkinson's tremor by inserting a catheter, improving quality of life. Seizures are also treated, with options ranging from closely monitoring them to identifying their source and employing minimally invasive or traditional surgical techniques for treatment. #rnzclinics #minimallyinvasiveprocedures

As a spine surgeon at the Hoag Spine Institute, Dr. Adam Kanter, the Executive Medical Director at the Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute and Chief of Neurosurgery at the Hoag Specialty Clinic, specializes in minimally invasive surgery. What exactly is minimally invasive surgery? According to Dr. Kanter, it's all about achieving maximum results with minimal disruption. By utilizing advanced retractors and innovative techniques the goal is to address spinal issues while preserving surrounding tissues and minimizing incisions. With minimally invasive procedures, patients experience shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery times, and reduced trauma to muscles and bones. That means less pain and a faster return to everyday activities! The detailed information you provided seems to relate to specific steps and outcomes in the microsurgical treatment of intraventricular and intrapontine arachnoid cysts. Each of these steps is highly technical and requires specialized surgical skills, particularly due to the sensitive nature of brain surgery. The use of terms like "transventricular port" and "intrapontine" indicates advanced techniques in neurosurgery. The timing details suggest a very precise and calculated approach, likely reflecting the meticulous planning that goes into such procedures. The postoperative MRI is an essential part of the follow-up to ensure the desired outcomes are achieved.

Without effective treatment, small brain aneurysms can be fatal. Dr. Ashish Sonig, of Willis Knighton Neurovascular Neurosurgery, repaired Lisa Woodward's aneurysm using the new and less invasive pipeline embolization device. Traditional surgery would have required a head incision to repair the brain tissue, but thanks to this life-saving innovation, Sonig was able to use a less invasive method to treat her brain aneurysm. #WKHealth #WKCares

Intraoperative neuromonitoring is crucial because it continuously tracks neural function during spine, head, neck, and brain surgery, helping to prevent neurological damage. By providing real-time feedback on the integrity of critical nerves and brain areas, it enhances surgical precision and safety. This monitoring allows surgeons to make immediate adjustments, minimizing the risk of complications and improving patient outcomes. Ultimately, it plays a key role in preserving neurological health and ensuring a successful recovery. We’re excited to share that the excellent results of our biomechanical study confirming the effectiveness of our zLOCK Facet Fixation System for lumbar spine stabilization were published in World Neurosurgery. The study shows how our system can improve spinal surgeries by providing significant stability without the need for traditional pedicle screws. 🔬 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: • 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: zLOCK provided stability comparable to that of traditional methods. • 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲: zLOCK allows for stabilization with less surgical trauma, making it a great fit for outpatient and ASC procedures. • 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: The system showed minimal impact on nearby spinal segments, which helps prevent long-term complications like adjacent segment degeneration. With these results, ZygoFix continues to push forward, providing solutions that enhance recovery and make spinal surgery safer. As we prepare for our controlled commercial launch in the US and upcoming participation in the @NASS Annual Meeting 2024, we’re excited to bring this innovation to surgeons and healthcare professionals. 👉 Learn more about how we’re shaping the future of spinal surgery: https://lnkd.in/d7766h6f #spinalsurgery #medtech #biomechanics #spinalstability #healthcareinnovation #minimallyinvasive #ZygoFix #zLOCK #NASS2024
