Vietnam’s coal electricity output jumped to 86.3 billion kilowatt-hours this year through June, representing 57% of the nation’s power mix, up from 49.5% a year earlier. In an effort to reduce the risk of future electricity shortages and the nation’s reliance on coal-fired power, Vietnam earlier this month allowed major users to begin buying renewable energy directlyfrom developers, bypassing the state monopoly. The utility continues to ask customers to set air conditioners’ temperatures at no less than 26C (78.8F) and refrain from using multiple high-capacity electric devices at the same time, especially during peak hours of 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 7 p.m.-11 p.m. #grid #infranstructure #vietnammarket #electricitymarket #renewableenergy #sustainableenergy #investmentstrategy #businessstrategy #supplychainplanning

KEPCO has lost more than 230 billion won in three years and will raise electricity prices at an appropriate time The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea announced on the 26th that it will raise electricity prices after the peak of summer electricity consumption to reduce the debt burden of the Korea Electric Power Corporation. International energy prices have risen sharply, but KEPCO has supplied electricity at a price below cost from 2021 to 2023, and its cumulative losses have reached 43 trillion won (about 230.3 billion yuan). #electricpower #powertransmission #powerdistribution #ats #odm #powersupply #xinlingelectrical #electricity #relay #sensor #switch #electricalcomponent #temperaturecontrol #industrialcontrol

A recent BBC article highlighted that China has built 48,000km of Ultra-High-Voltage (UHV) lines crossing the country. In Chinese terms, these are lines carrying direct currents (DC) at voltage levels of 800 kilovolts (kV) or above and alternating currents (AC) at 1,000 kV or above. New Zealand does not have UHV lines; its high-voltage transmission backbone carries 220 kV (AC) with a high-voltage 350 kV DC line connecting both islands. What about the other economic powerhouse, the USA? A late 2023 RAND report confirmed that where China had already developed 34 UHV lines on its territory, the United States had none. Just in case anyone was wondering where to look for growth over the next decade... https://lnkd.in/gJhjyn3J
