🌟 Leadership, Culture, and the Guest Experience: Building KCN's DNA 🌟 At KCN, our mission isn't just about running successful campgrounds—it’s about building a culture that empowers our team and creates unforgettable experiences for our guests. As our CEO, Kevin Thueson, so aptly puts it: "It all comes down to the team. My job isn’t to micromanage but to find the right people with the right mindset and motivation, provide them with tools, resources, and opportunities, and then get out of their way." This approach is our foundation for success. By treating our team with the same care and respect we expect them to show our guests, we foster a culture of excellence that trickles down to every interaction. We know it’s not easy. Maintaining a guest-first culture as we grow requires constant focus and reflection. It’s about ensuring that our values—like going above and beyond for every guest—are ingrained in every layer of our organization. 💡 Interested in being part of this journey? Whether you’re looking to collaborate, invest, or simply learn more, let’s connect. 📩 Curious about investing in the future of outdoor hospitality? Talk to Kevin Thueson, our CEO, to explore how you can join us in creating meaningful experiences and driving growth in the outdoor hospitality industry. Let’s build something great—together. 🌲🌟 #Leadership #Culture #Hospitality #GuestExperience #InvestInOutdoorHospitality #KCN

In my latest Nation's Restaurant News article, we’re diving into a game-changing strategy for reducing turnover: creating an internal growth path for your team. A special thank you to Janice Mackler, Hospitality Strategic Sales Advisor at DSA Signage, for sharing an insightful question about why an internal growth path is the answer to turnover. Employees today aren’t just looking for jobs, they’re seeking growth, purpose, and the opportunity to make an impact. It’s not just about keeping people around, it’s about investing in their future and showing them there’s more to your organization than just a paycheck. Employees today are looking for opportunities to grow, learn, and advance within the companies they dedicate their time and energy to. So, how can restaurant leaders build a workplace where team members don’t just want to stay but are excited to thrive? It starts with recognizing talent, providing consistent training, and offering clear pathways for advancement. Imagine the impact on company culture and guest experience when employees feel truly valued and have room to grow. Connect your employees to the BIGGER picture!! Recognition helps employees see that their company values them and their contributions to the success of their team and the company overall. This is particularly key when organizations grow or change. It helps employees build a sense of security in their value to the company, motivating them to continue great work. Here’s the GAME CHANGER; Regularly share news about how the company is striving to reach the mission, and explain how individual employee goals relate to that vision. ✨ While it's important to recognize major accomplishments, don’t overlook the power of the everyday thank-yous and shout-outs to motivate employees. Remember, these small gestures can make your employees feel incredibly proud of themselves! It’s all about hospitality. That’s what we try and focus on our teams on. Hospitality with all our guests - internal and external. Can’t give outstanding service without first treating teams with respect. It’s the culture you build in any organization that makes you or breaks you. Like I tell my teams, “build your people , so your people build your business”. I absolutely believe that. So far I’m a little behind last years guest satisfaction scores, but our organization is outpacing the Dallas Field Office! A little over 4 months left to see how we end up. I don’t doubt my teams will finish strong. 💪 Edit-added 5 more locations in March-but they are begining to show some improvement on the hospitality front. Will kick it in gear here soon 😉. #mcdonalds #hospitality #cultureofcare #peoplefirst #guestsatisfaction #ghoa #dallasfieldoffice #imlovinit #soudagarstrong #leadership #buildingteams #success #voicesurveys #osat #eb2b #pace #houston

Set the Standards, Then Step Back! 🎯 Delivering great service and atmosphere doesn’t mean you need to be there every day. Establish a strong culture, train your team well, and oversee operations from a higher level. #restaurantmanagement #teamtraining #businessleadership #hospitalitytips #worksmarternotharder

I completely agree with this take on culture. It has become a buzzword and is often poorly applied. Plenty of people/organizations throw the word around and claim to be all in on cultivating a healthy, supportive culture. Alarmingly few truly implement those critical principles to actually foster it. People who feel believed in and supported can move mountains. #culture #people #leadership #teamworkmakesthedreamwork
Offering out Free Beers is NOT "culture"... Culture is about support and flexibility.

Such a wonderful time spent with Choice Hotels EMEA team! When leadership fosters memorable experiences that elevate the employee journey, personal values align seamlessly with company values: Be bold, Be quick, Listen, Be Curios, Show Integrity. It starts with investing in yourself. And we all remembered that culture eats strategy for breakfast. Instead, we have enjoyed the workshop where we cooked and ate strategy for dinner. #CompanyCulture #EmployeeExperience #ValuesAlignment #LeadershipDevelopment

Culture Exists—Whether You Design It or Not. Is your restaurant culture thriving or surviving? When you don’t define your mission, vision, and values, culture happens by accident. This means inconsistency, disengagement, and staff operating without direction. What happens when you design your culture? ✅ Staff feel connected to a shared purpose. ✅ Leaders embody the values, inspiring trust and commitment. ✅ Guests experience service that feels authentic and consistent. So what now..? Take 20 minutes today to draft your restaurant’s mission statement. Make it clear, inspiring, and actionable. 🛠 Culture isn’t a buzzword—it’s your foundation for success. #CultureByDesign #HospitalityLeadership #BuildYourCulture

Applying the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in Hospitality Management Stephen R. Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" has been a game-changer in personal and professional development. Reflecting on its principles, I find them incredibly relevant to our work in the hospitality industry. Here’s how these habits guide my approach to hotel management: 1. Be Proactive: Taking initiative in problem-solving and always looking for ways to enhance guest satisfaction. 2. Begin with the End in Mind: Setting clear goals for guest experience and operational excellence, and working towards them every day. 3. Put First Things First: Prioritizing tasks that directly impact our guests and team members, ensuring we always deliver top-notch service. 4. Think Win-Win: Cultivating relationships with guests, employees, and partners where everyone benefits. 5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Listening to guest feedback and team input to make informed and empathetic decisions. 6. Synergize: Encouraging collaboration within our team to achieve greater results than we could individually. 7. Sharpen the Saw: Continuously investing in personal and professional development to stay innovative and effective. These habits have not only helped me grow as a leader but have also contributed to creating a positive and productive work environment. I highly recommend Covey's book to anyone looking to enhance their effectiveness and leadership skills. What habits or principles from your favorite books have made a difference in your career? Let's share and learn from each other! #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #Hospitality #7Habits #StephenCovey #ContinuousImprovement Stephen M. R. Covey

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣 "𝙪𝙣𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚" 𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚? When I saw a cameo of Will Guidara on The Bear, I was inspired to re-read his book, Unreasonable Hospitality. While it appears to be about the high end restaurant biz, it's a thinly veiled manifesto about both leadership and team culture. His message may be even more beneficial in 2024? Exceed expectations in ways that make people feel seen, heard, and valued, employees and customers alike. When you invest in going the extra mile for your people, it’s not just about kindness, it’s about fostering loyalty, engagement, and a sense of belonging. And here's the kicker: when your team feels truly empowered to deliver excellence, they’re more innovative, connected, and invested in the company’s success. In a world where “good enough” is often the bar, Guidara says why not blow past it? Here’s to creating a culture where hospitality isn’t just for guests, but is woven into the everyday interactions within your teams. What’s one “unreasonable” thing you’re doing to elevate your workplace culture? I'd love to hear about it. #Leadership #ThrivingCulture #UnreasonableHospitality #BusinessSuccess
