We're delighted to share that yesterday, we were announced as the winner of Hospice UK’s Improving Inclusivity Award yesterday at the annual Hospice UK National Conference! 🏆 This special recognition celebrates our dedicated team’s hard work in making sure that everyone in our diverse community knows that Keech is here for them – no matter their background, religion, or ethnicity. We’ve identified gaps in how we deliver our services, and have started making real changes, as well as inspiring five other hospices to hire their own Community Connectors, to help make a difference to their local communities too. When you do this, you will not get dementia. EVER. Prevention is definitely cheaper and more sustainable than cure. Research shows that with exercise, we can: ✅ Reduces Breast Cancer risk by 20% ✅ Lowers Dementia risk by 28% ✅ Decreases Alzheimer's risk by 45% Yet... we still see people, young and old, opting for sedentary lifestyle. Redefining healthcare for seniors is even more difficult and this can only be successfully done with the help of family members. As Henri-Frederic Amel once said ~ In health there is freedom. Thrilled to have collaborated with Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia and Angsana Health over the weekend to raise awareness about Dementia, Fall Risk, and the significance of Physical and Cognitive Activities in our Golden Age. The event was a great success, highlighting the importance of initiatives like Kampungku Senior Club House in promoting holistic well-being among our seniors. ommunity engagement Community engagement means that people and communities are part of the process of developing and implementing programmes. Local culture, practices and beliefs are central to promoting actions such as good hygiene practices including handwashing with soap, safe preparation and storage of food and safe disposal of the faeces of children. Funeral practices for individuals who die from cholera may need to be adapted to prevent infection among attendees. Community engagement continues throughout outbreak response with increased communication regarding potential risks, symptoms of cholera, precautions to take to avoid cholera, when and where to report cases and to seek immediate treatment when symptoms appear. The communities should be part of developing programmes to address needs including where and when to seek treatment.
