Cara Jenkinson, Cities Manager at Ashden & Co-Chair of WG3, will be chairing an event named "Delivering retrofit skills: how to leverage local partnerships" online on 20th May at 2pm! Colleges and training providers are developing retrofit courses across the country to meet the gap in skills and workforce to meet health, energy and net zero targets. But there are challenges. How do you establish employer demand for retrofit workers in a sector that has been very dependent on government policy? As awarding bodies step up to the challenge and offer more retrofit qualifications, how do colleges develop engaging training material? And how do you demonstrate the career opportunities in retrofit to attract new learners? ♿ In one of our latest projects, we developed a proof-of-concept route planner for people with reduced mobility. The resources of this project are now publicly available. 💻 The resources of this project include a code repository and dataset. The repository contains code to create a network with accessibility features and plan accessible routes. The dataset contains a network with accessibility features for two pilot areas in Amsterdam. 🌐 By open-sourcing this repository and dataset, we provide a factual and technical resource for developers and contributors interested in advancing the accessibility of urban environments for diverse user needs.
