This one is definitely swinging for the fences, but still might be my favourite of our 30 or so indirect portfolio companies. Bottomless energy demand from hyperscalers has made this glaring obvious recently, but it was always the case that ultimately we need more energy over time, not less; both as we continue to innovate new ways to use it, not to mention bringing a few billion people up to the currently living standards we enjoy in rich countries. For sure there is a lot that can be done with solar + storage over time, but we are absolutely going to need a lot more on top. If someone could crack construction costs on nuclear, it would be transformative to decarbonisation and long-term energy abundance. Blue Energy - we are rooting for you!

In discussions about nuclear power plants, stakeholders are mostly concerned about safety, security, and land requirements. It's promising to see that small modular reactors (SMRs) offer a solution to these issues. SMRs are more cost-effective, scalable, and safe compared to traditional power plants, addressing many of the common challenges associated with nuclear energy production. Embracing this technology represents a significant advancement in the nuclear field. 👇 https://lnkd.in/dniHcPtA

As the digital economy accelerates with advancements in electrification and AI, the demand for reliable, sustainable energy has never been greater. Nuclear energy is stepping up to meet this challenge, as highlighted by Kairos Power’s recent milestone. Kairos Power’s Hermes 2 test facility in Tennessee has received federal approval to begin construction on two groundbreaking nuclear test reactors. These reactors, utilizing non-light water (non-water-cooled) technology, mark the first of their kind to receive a construction permit and are poised to generate electricity efficiently and innovatively. This achievement builds on momentum from Google's recent commitment to procure 500 megawatts of nuclear power from Kairos Power over the next decade. It’s a testament to the growing recognition of nuclear energy's role in enabling a carbon-free future while meeting the soaring power demands of AI and electrification. The nuclear power industry is truly experiencing a renaissance, and innovations like these are shaping a cleaner, more resilient energy landscape. What are your thoughts on the role of nuclear energy in the evolving energy mix? #energy #nuclear
