Active voice is a grammatical structure in which the subject of the sentence performs the action expressed by the verb. In an active voice sentence, the subject is the doer of the action, and the object (if there is one) receives the action. For example: - **Active Voice**: "The cat chased the mouse." - Here, "the cat" (subject) is doing the action of "chasing" (verb) on "the mouse" (object). In contrast, the **passive voice** would rearrange the sentence so that the subject is the recipient of the action: - **Passive Voice**: "The mouse was chased by the cat." Active voice is often preferred in writing because it is usually clearer, more direct, and easier to understand.
