How to communicate to your team that their "good" is not good enough. ... Rosalina De Abreu recently shared an insightful experience about the challenges of maintaining consistent motivation within her team. Our programme helped her her emphasise the importance of not just fostering a positive and encouraging environment, but also of being intentional about leveraging team strengths. She realised that to truly address business challenges, it was crucial to communicate that while positivity is important, it must be coupled with a strategic approach to problem-solving. By encouraging her team to lean into their unique talents and collaborate more effectively, they were able to address issues more innovatively and productively. This experience underscores the importance of honest and constructive feedback within teams. It’s not about diminishing their efforts but about pushing them to achieve even greater results by harnessing their full potential and thinking more strategically about their contributions.

Absolutely! Appreciation is a powerful tool for motivation. When team members feel valued and recognized for their efforts, it boosts morale, strengthens their commitment, and encourages them to perform at their best. Acknowledging achievements—whether big or small—helps create a positive work environment and fosters a sense of belonging and purpose. It can also enhance collaboration and drive, as people are more likely to contribute their best when they feel appreciated. If you're looking to express appreciation to your team, you might say something like: "Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. Your efforts have made a real difference, and I truly appreciate the energy and commitment you bring to the team. Let's continue to push forward together!" Small acts of recognition can go a long way in keeping a team motivated and engaged.

Simple, but powerful ways: 1. Listen actively - email, Slack, text can wait. Take time to understand their ideas and perspectives. 2. Celebrate wins - recognize achievements, big and small. 3. Invest in growth - support their development or provide tools to help them grow. How do you show your team they’re valued?

You can't buy loyalty. It's earned through action. You can’t build a great team overnight. It’s the small, daily actions as a leader that compound over time that sets the team culture. The basics might seem simple (often forgotten) But they go a long way in building strong team cultures: ✅ Train your team so they’re always learning & improving. ✅ Show respect, transparency & genuine care for their growth. ✅ Create an environment where everyone feels valued & supported. Consistent actions build trust, loyalty & commitment. When you do the right thing, you won’t just retain your team you’ll unlock potential you didn’t think was possible.

An empowered team is not built only on skills; it’s built on trust, recognition, and a sense of value. When employees feel genuinely valued, they’re not just contributing—they’re invested, inspired, and committed to reaching higher. Every team member brings something unique to the table. Recognizing each person’s impact strengthens bonds, boosts morale, and drives collective success. Acknowledgment isn’t just about saying ‘good job’—it’s about showing we notice the effort, dedication, and creativity each individual brings. By actively valuing our team, we create a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Keeping a team engaged and morale high is sometimes hard. I like to implement different strategies to ensure my team knows that they are valued. Here’s how I keep my team engaged. 1. Pulse Checks I provide quarterly surveys to gauge their experience working on the team. 1:1s help to share their feedback on a more individual level and how I can best support. 2. Affirmation Share weekly and monthly achievements. Encourage team to refine their strengths and seek resources for growth opportunities. 3. Team Building Goals are accomplished when the team is able to work well together. This also helps with knowing small tidbits and commonality between colleagues. An engaged team leads to greater growth.
